I had ran out of toilet paper and finally found some at a petrol station which had 5 crates midday, pack of 20s!!!!

Posted in my local fb page, thinking I was helping people struggling that can't arrive at shops first thing in the morning but just received loads of abuse for encouraging panic buying??!!

I just wanted to help but won't bother again as My post was taking so wrongly! There was a limit for one pack, noone could turn up and buy them all. One woman at the counter too so no multiple tills to go to. It's actually really upset me Sad

I hate how people have turned in this situation, I know people are stressed but it's so sad.

I posted this another thread: our local FB group is full of people posting photos of other people out and about, likely on their approved walk/getting groceries, screeching about what 'fookin idiots' they are.

People are just being vile ... I'm off work after having a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago .. so I'm not in work .. I'm
A call centre team leader and my team are having to go into work and are being shouted at and complained about just like normal ... they are scared and don't even want to be at work .... no let up on the usual nastiness from some customers.. ( you can bet they were posting all the be kind stuff all over social media a few weeks ago )

There seems to be no middle ground just now. We are witnessing the kindest, heart warming acts from some and mind boggling rudeness and aggressiveness from those who should know better.
I've been sworn at this week for buying 2 loaves of bread. I need to share out these 2 loaves to last a week between my 2 elderly neighbours who are shielded at home and a young NHS carer neighbour who can't make it into the local shop before closing.
I've already given up my emergency loaf from my freezer for my Mum last week.
I'd love a bit of toast right now but I'll have to make do with Rich tea biscuits.

Some people have always been nasty - but this has just brought it out.

I would avoid the site but there's some really good advice on here too.

The #bekind thing is now
#beselfishandhorrible

DH was shouted at this morning at Tesco by a Tesco employee for shopping! He was carrying a basket, so not hoarding. And not during special opening hours, but don't get me started on that as he's an essential employee and doing shopping before work for the family.

But on the other hand, have had lots of people from the neighbourhood offering to help out shopping, local businesses going bust who are donating food to homeless.

#beadick!
😀 oh yes.

It's really bought out the worst in some people.

Even on here it's like people are desperate to find a reason to be nasty to others. Everyone wants to appear better than everyone else. It's horrible. It should be a time when everyone is supporting each other.

DishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 25/03/2020 13:32

I guess there has always been a subsection of MN that are desperate to prove how much better they are than others.

It used to be straight talking, but now it's just plain old nasty.

LuaDipa · 25/03/2020 22:24

Completely agree and to be honest I am far more concerned about the level of nastiness and hysteria that I am witnessing than I am about catching the virus. I spend a lot of my time wondering why on earth anyone gives a flying fuck that their neighbours’ gardener is still mowing their lawn when they are virtuously staying at home anyway (apparently).

But then I see the local groups set up to help and the commitment of the key workers and I tell myself that people are generally good and we are all struggling with things at the minute.

Your intentions were good and most people will realise that. Try not to let the nastiness bother you.
