DH has had to down tools and we have been anxiously awaiting news about how the government schemes may/may not support him. He employs himself so not self employed technically. We will be loosing £2500 a month.
He’s incredibly lucky to have got the opportunity to do night work at a supermarket but pay isn’t great - it’s £1200.
My only worry is will we risk then not being able to claim anything from the government scheme?

So yes that's right.

If he's Technically an employee then (of his company perhaps?) he could furlough himself and claim the 80%.

If he's got a new job working in a supermarket then I believe he can't do that as he is employed and working.

Or it sounds like what they were saying would happen to Wetherspoon staff if they went and got a job in a supermarket - they would lose their entitlement to the 80% pay scheme.

He’s earn more in the supermarket because the 80% is not based on dividends

We are in a similar situation. I’m self employed (freelance) so currently would get £94/week but DH is employed by his own Ltd company. He’s the only member of staff. How can he lay himself off? He would need to be working to eventually take himself back on? It currently feels like our entire household is going to be relying on £94/week.

This just can’t be fair surly

Do you think any type of work outside of our employer (ourselves) will become a problem?

Truth is that no-one knows yet how any if the help schemes will a tually be implemented. Who will qualify etc etc.

Just a big fat silence on any if the mechanics.

Leaves many employees, workers and business owners in major uncertainty imho.

@ACupOfTeaSolvesEverything if he's still working through this then surely he's bringing in money then? If not, he furloughs himself on the payroll and gets 80% at some point.

OP it sounds like the supermarket gig is best for you then, the earnings from govt is what goes through paye so work out best option and go for that.
