If in doubt, don't go out

Aibu to think if you have to ask if your trip out is necessary, then it probably isn't and to just stay in

I dunno, I've seen people think that they can no longer walk their dog at all or send a child under 18 to their non-resident parent, or even go out into their own garden. There's a lot of misinformation going around.

I have just walked to the post box to post some paracetamol to my brother as he can’t get any where he lives. It is only a 5 minute walk but I didn’t pass anyone apart from a window cleaner getting his bucket out his van. Why he thought it was ok for him to carry on with his round I have no idea but I hope his client sent him away.

MuddyPuddlesAndPrettyBubbles · 24/03/2020 12:58

It is ok for him to carry on. My window cleaner doesn't come into anyone's houses. People are allowed to do their jobs. If you're going down that route, does your brother need paracetamol in the next few days? If you have CV, it's on the box, the envelope, how many people could you have spread it to?

JulietTango · 24/03/2020 13:00

@Stefoscope

Maybe it should be that simple. Then there would be no misunderstanding.

We run a call out business and around 80% of our customers are over 65. The amount who have phoned this morning saying I thought you'd have nothing to do this week so you can come and fix my problem is unbelievable.

But is it? Having your windows cleaned isn't essential

People need to read the advice from the government rather than listening to SM/their friends.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 24/03/2020 13:06

My brother is a cancer patient he can’t go out looking for paracetamol so yes he does need someone to send him some. He is in London where people have gone mad stock piling and his last online shopping order from Tesco was cancelled. He can’t even see his doctor at the moment as they are only doing phone consultations.

The window cleaner is the old style leather and water so yes he does need contract with his clients. He needs water and then to take payment. Having clean windows is not an essential service especially in my area which is a coastal town with a higher than average older population.
