Because this happened to me yesterday. And I saw a post on Linkedin a few days prior where it had happened to someone else too. This is what happened to me;

I walked up the road on my own to go to my sons' house 5 mins away (they live with their dad, older child has cerebral palsy and needs care, I spend the days with them). Live in a not rough neighbourhood (not posh, but okay). A group of about 7 men and women in their early 20’s, carrying a speaker playing loud Grime walking towards me. Something a bit menacing about them, didn't move over a bit like you'd normally expect so I had to walk on edge of pavement. I thought I was just being paranoid because everything's so weird right now, but as I walked passed them one of the young men deliberately coughed towards me to the amusement of his friends.

I do hope this is not becoming a thing.

Someone contacted the Ryan Tubridy show here in Ireland yesterday to say they were walking along the canal and asked a woman passing them if she could move over a bit to ensure appropriate distance. Not only did she refuse, she actually thought it was funny when her son, aged about 12, deliberately coughed in the other person's direction.

What hope is there of that youngster growing up to be a decent adult with a mother like that.

Happened to an older disabled relative in the gym a couple of weeks ago. I mentioned it on another thread. Younger male who thought it funny. Now the gym is closed, he is probably coughing elsewhere.

I read today an adult couple coughed in the face of the health minister Simon Harris today, they need to be locked up, charged with harassment, public order offenses, even intent to cause GBH. Absolute scum.

If it was down to me, these idiots would get injected with the virus and locked in a room with no health care till they were no longer infectious. If they died, well, it’s natural selection and at least they wouldn’t have been able to infect anyone else.

Seriously, though, once we DO get tests available, I hope we don’t get people who find themselves positive going out and doing this KNOWING they ARE actually positive. I hope the government has plans for that happening, because seeing some people’s frankly psychopathic behaviour during this crisis has really opened my eyes.

There was some cases in America, one guy was licking the goods in a supermarket he was jailed. The one licking the loo is now infected and in hospital.

I was queuing outside our local Tesco, waiting to be allowed in (1 in, 1 out policy) when the young lad (20's) 2m in front of hawked and spat on the ground next to him!
Tesco staff immediately told him to get out of the queue and he will not be entering the store today!
He was not a happy bunny but luckily a police car pulled into the carpark, which changed his mind so he left, still spouting choice words.

I teach kids who are vulnerable and most have behavioural difficulties. About half of them are now coughing in people's faces whenever they've got a cob on. It's particularly gross, especially when you think that we're still going into work every day to look after them.

I’ve seen a couple of videos of normal appearing people licking their hands and smearing the saliva on handrails on public transport.

Two reasons. One, a significant minority of the population are always scum. Everywhere you go, you'll find vermin. Unfortunately they always stand out from the normal population because their acts are so vile.

Two, a large number of people feel disaffected. The world has left them behind, they just about manage, they have no real future or anything to look forward to. This is a much larger group than the first. The majority of these people are decent and hardworking, would never deliberately harm others (indeed, would go out of their way to help others). But in times like this, when the normal rules are suspended, a minority will always see it as an opportunity or necessity to act like dicks.

It's the same behaviour that happens when there is heavy snowfall. Normality is suspended. Most people get on with their lives, many have harmless fun. Some will make giant snow penises, throw snowballs (heavily compacted ice) at pensioners, write obscenities in the snow, and so on.

An element of human psychology is always to get one over on someone else. People who are bullied usually become bullies themselves if the opportunity arises.

And sadly, some people are just scum.
