to think gangs of disaffected young adults are deliberately coughing on people?

Because this happened to me yesterday. And I saw a post on Linkedin a few days prior where it had happened to someone else too. This is what happened to me;

I walked up the road on my own to go to my sons' house 5 mins away (they live with their dad, older child has cerebral palsy and needs care, I spend the days with them). Live in a not rough neighbourhood (not posh, but okay). A group of about 7 men and women in their early 20’s, carrying a speaker playing loud Grime walking towards me. Something a bit menacing about them, didn't move over a bit like you'd normally expect so I had to walk on edge of pavement. I thought I was just being paranoid because everything's so weird right now, but as I walked passed them one of the young men deliberately coughed towards me to the amusement of his friends.

I do hope this is not becoming a thing.

It's stuff like that that has led to the extra powers the police will have.

Hopefully, most will lose interest in being out now Nando's, KFC, MccyD's and most chicken shops will be closed. The remainder will find out exactly what the new powers and military support where necessary will mean.

AlexaCrowe · 24/03/2020 13:07

@Soubriquet there’s a social media challenge to ‘lick something’ (public toilet seats, park equipment, shop door etc) to show you’re not scared of CV or something.

Hoggleludo · 24/03/2020 13:10

I read some youths. That's how it was reported. We're being asked to disperse at our local park. They started spitting on the police

That's not only disgusting. But now could be life threatening!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 24/03/2020 13:15

Spitting at someone is classed as assault isn't it?

SayNotoArtificialLipids · 24/03/2020 13:18

In my area, we have had teenagers spitting on car door handles. Really don't understand the mentality of these individuals.

Thurmanmurman · 24/03/2020 13:18

Disgusting. Some of the younger generations have also nicknamed CV as the Boomer Remover. What is wrong with these idiots 😡

DishingOutDone · 24/03/2020 13:24

Yep, its a thing. My DD18 was walking the dog yesterday, a car slowed down, male passenger leaned out of the window and coughed at her.

JudyGemstone · 24/03/2020 13:29

Well, it is (mostly) a boomer remover to be fair. People have always used dark humour to deal with difficult situations. Hardly the same as deliberately coughing in someone's face.

Thurmanmurman · 24/03/2020 13:49

Judy I didn’t say it was the same did I? Still a gross thing to say nevertheless.

Sexnotgender · 24/03/2020 13:54

Men seem to be the culprits as per usual 😏 seriously the sooner we can further the human race without the need for men the better.

GnomeDePlume · 24/03/2020 13:56

Sadly there has always been a certain type of mentality which sees doing something like this as funny/witty/clever. They are looking to shock & offend.

I am sure that if you could go back to 1350 at the height of the Black Death you will find youths coughing & spitting on people and saying 'Ha! Ha! you've got plague!'

There is nothing new under the sun.

BritishHorrorStory · 24/03/2020 13:57

@Sallycinnamum
Shock I just watched the video of him defending them after reading your post. God, the policeman was utterly useless, wasn’t he?

ukgift2016 · 24/03/2020 14:06

Of course it is chavy men.

Not surprised at all this is happening.

ViciousJackdaw · 24/03/2020 14:19

disaffected young adults

Oh come on now, tell it like it is. They're gobshites.

mothertruck3r · 24/03/2020 14:48

They're not "disaffected". They are just evil cunts.

Harriett123 · 24/03/2020 14:54

Someone did something similar to a friend of mine in Dublin.
Its disgusting and I think it should be prosecuted. Hopefully police will be able to stop it once the new law comes into effect.

Whoareyoudududu · 24/03/2020 15:29

An old man did this to me last week. Well, I’m unsure whether it was directly at me but he certainly coughed without even attempting to cover his gob very close to me as I was walking past...

PennyArrowBar · 24/03/2020 16:33

Happened twice to my DH yesterday evening. Cunty little brats.

TheReluctantCountess · 25/03/2020 13:23

It’s disgusting and has only given me more reason to not leave the house.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 25/03/2020 13:25

Same here reluctance. I’m very happy to stay home as long as there are people like that outside.

Nanny0gg · 25/03/2020 13:41

Hope it can be treated as GBH.

But there will always be some men out there who look for any excuse to intimidate women.

EmeraldShamrock · 25/03/2020 13:47

Yes it is a disgrace the new tictok phenomenon. 2 teenager's were arrested for doing it on a gardì yesterday, it was reported in the paper's teenager's surrounded a nurse to cough all over her, another incident on a elderly couple, it is the coronavirus challenge one young girl licked a public toilet.
Numpties. Angry

EmeraldShamrock · 25/03/2020 13:48

Google Coronavirus challenge the sheep youth are seriously lacking brains.

FunkyKingston · 25/03/2020 14:03

Men seem to be the culprits as per usual 😏 seriously the sooner we can further the human race without the need for men the better.

And a large proportion of the panic buying and rucking in supermarkets over bog roll has been done by women. Both sexes have taken their offspring to crowded parks and beaches second homes etc.

Males don't have the monopoly on stupid selfish behaviour during the pandemic.
