AIBU to ask you to help me find this BBC movie?

I have a vivid memory of watching this movie but I cannot for the life of me find it on the internet.

It is based in china about a girl who is ethnically Chinese but from England. She is sold (?) to a rich Chinese man to be his wife.

I also remember some detail about Nigerian men doing business in China (illegally) and some of them getting the death penalty for it.
It may not necessarily be BBC but deffo one of the big networks like channel 4 or even itv.
Does this ring a bell for anybody?

Doesn't sound like I'd want to find out, tbh. Maybe it's not available because it was so fucking offensive in content?

RainWoman19 · 23/03/2020 16:51

Blind Mountain?

TheSandman · 23/03/2020 16:58

Any idea how long ago you watched it? Was it in English, subtitled or dubbed?

cinammonbuns · 23/03/2020 16:59

@RainWoman19 no that’s not it it was a British film. But this film looks really interesting I will check it out. Thanks

@MitziK what a bizarre comment? The content was a depiction of real life. I’m sorry that you are offended by reality?

@TheSandman it was subtitled when the actors where speaking Chinese but they also spoke English at times.

@MitziK 'offensive in content'? A good way to describe most great works of art.

TheSandman · 23/03/2020 17:07

I'm searching IMDb's keyword search but not coming up with anything.

Squigean · 23/03/2020 17:11

How long ago?

I keep thinking of Warrior; which quite frankly is ridculous as it doesn't fit the bill at all (As it's set in the US, not a film and not that long ago for starters!) But before I keep thing of it, it's blocking my abiltiy the think of anything else (if that makes sense).

cinammonbuns · 23/03/2020 17:19

@squigean maybe 4 or 5 years ago? It was definitely a brutish show.

  • I mean British but also rather brutish
