for using eBay when there is an alternative?

I love eBay, have been buying clothes and shoes for several years as an attempt to both save more money and behave more ethically.
I want some new PJs and have seen the very pair I like on eBay for less than a new pair in the store's online shop.

DW says that people shouldn't be out and about, that going to post a parcel at the post office isn't essential and that I should order from the store.

I think that some people depend on money from eBay and should be supported. My view, I admit, is coloured by the fact I want these PJs and I hate paying full price when there's an alternative way to access these items.

So AIBU to bid for the PJs and hope to win
Should I cough up for the full price item?

(Just to add, we went through a very difficult financial situation in recent years which we have hopefully just emerged from)

Just because it's being sold on eBay doesn't mean the person has to go to the Post Office. They could be using a collection service by a courier - needing only to leave the parcel outside for collection...

I've just done a 'drop & go' with my parcels - I've got a prepaid card for the Post Office so I just dropped my post bag and card at the back door and stood back whilst the postmaster took them in. Waited for him to finish, he then came out, put my card on the ground and closed the door.

Other sellers I know have their parcels collected from the doorstep and another uses a Hermes self service machine, where no human contact is needed.

Virus could be on the packaging no matter where it comes from and a person will have to be out delivering too.

"I want some new PJs"

You want them, you don't need them.

Why should postal workers have to be risking infection because of your whims? Stick to essential purchases only.

Sadly I am at high risk so I think I do need those pjs as I could well end up in hospital.

It doesn't make any difference. Order away.

They don't keep you in your PJs if you're being ventilated Hmm

Just buy them!!

Seems reasonable to me
Post still running, online shopping okay as alternative to physical shops. Go for it.
