AIBU to ask what counts as severe asthma

Sorry I can’t find if this has been done - would having steroid tablets prescribed twice in the last two years (on top of regular clenil and ventolin prescription) count as severe asthma?

Happy to do the twelve weeks if so (and have started) but don’t want to use up delivery slots that could go to more vulnerable if not. I don’t want to ring my doctors as they’re overrun (town of a lot of older people). I’m early 40s.

There is a page on the asthma uk website which seems helpful. It is their Coronavirus update yesterday.
It has a list of medications and dosages to help you work out if you are high risk.

Thanks so much for that @CarolHasAnotherUTI - that appeared before my eyes at exactly the right time. It turns out I’m a severe asthma sufferer. who knew.

Me too. It was a bit of a shock when I saw the link on Facebook!

If in England then I understand GPs will be writing out to patients with categories of illness/conditions that need to shield.

Thanks so much for info, pp. I’m in NI, looks like I’m just on the cusp outside of being officially classed vulnerable by the medication list but will abide by the advice anyway.
