Posting in AIBU for traffic.

Totally confused. I have always had regular periods. But today marks day 59 of my cycle and still no period! My cycle is never later than 40 days (40 days is the longest it’s ever been, it’s usually around 35 days). Me and my partner did have unprotected sex a few times last month, I think a few were around my fertile days. I have taken about six tests and they have all been negative. I have taken clear blue, first response, eBay cheapies and still negative. I haven’t got any symptoms, other than feeling dog tired and a little nauseous every now and then. When I was pregnant with my son I knew I was pregnant a few days after I conceived. I’m just at a loss. I'm not sure if I should make an appointment at my GP surgery considering everything going on. They are already under so much strain. Would they send me for a blood test? I have waited it out for weeks now and still nothing. I have never skipped a period in my life. I have had nothing new in my life. No hormones, no diet changes, so stress, no sudden weight gain or loss. Has this ever happened to anyone else? What was the outcome? It’s been 7 weeks since my last period, almost 8. Is it normal to just skip a period?

How old are you?

Lockheart · 22/03/2020 23:14

You've had unprotected sex and you've missed a period. You need to see a doctor.

biddeford · 22/03/2020 23:15

@Merryoldgoat I am 25.

Stress can stop periods. And boy these are stressful times.

QuestionableMouse · 22/03/2020 23:17

Time to pee on a stick. Hope you get the response you want.

biddeford · 22/03/2020 23:18

@QuestionableMouse I have, six times. And all have been negative. That's why I'm so confused.

Poor OP has peed on a stick six times QuestionableMouse!

It hasn’t happened to me but I wonder if it’s at all possible that you conceived but the pregnancy isn’t progressing and hormone levels have dropped so it’s not showing positive on a test but you just haven’t started bleeding yet? I don’t know if that’s feasible or not. I had a miscarriage at about 8 weeks but I felt the pregnancy probably stopped progressing at around 6 weeks, however obviously took a bit of time for my body to realise and start bleeding. I didn’t do pregnancy tests though to check at what point it turned negative. Hope you find out one way or the other soon!

Lockheart · 22/03/2020 23:22

@QuestionableMouse did you read the OP at all? She's taken several tests.

OP you really need to see a doctor to rule out pregnancy unless you're happy with the possibility of a surprise baby in a few months. Please don't just keep waiting for your period.

Yes, it could just be your body playing up or it could just be stress, but false negatives can happen with pregnancy tests, or there could be another health issue going on.

See a doctor.

fourandnomore · 22/03/2020 23:24

If there’s a chance you are pregnant which it sounds like there is - please don’t visit the gp surgery right now. Wait another couple of weeks and if same situation call and ask for a test via them rather than an appointment if possible, do you don’t need to go in.

biddeford · 22/03/2020 23:26

@Confused866 I have considered that. I had a miscarriage a year and a half ago, and I think from dates I was around 6 weeks. I did have a positive test a week before I had the miscarriage, quite a defined line and a clear blue positive test. But I'm literally getting nothing on the tests. Not even a trace of a line.

Actually maybe do that now. Call them for advice first to keep yourself safe. Don't wait just in case there are other issues as pp said,

QuestionableMouse · 22/03/2020 23:26

I'm so sorry. I totally missed that.
