To be confused by the advice about takeaways

It seems that we're being told it's okay to eat takeaway food, but I don't understand how it can be safe to eat food prepared (touched, breathed on) by people who may have the virus when it's not safe for us to stand within several metres of them.

Is this just me?

I would imagine that the virus is killed by the heat.

The most likely to way to get infected is by infected saliva from one person reaching another. Eg, they cough and the saliva goes in your mouth, nose or eyes or on your hands and then you touch your face.

Although it can survive on surfaces, it's less likely to contain enough of the virus to infect you.

Ah, could be that's it.

I think this, how do you know the person who made it hasn’t coughed all over it, how do you know if they’re ill or not, what if they’ve struggling into work to try and carry on because they don’t get sick pay.
I think this is a loop hole causing a risk which needs to be closed.

Sars, a similar corona virus is killed by temperatures of 56'. Fish and chips is cooked in oil of 190' and the average fry pan is over 140'. A wok is heated to even higher!

If worried- put on gloves, open the take-away container and pour the entire contents onto a plate. throw away container and gloves, then wash your hands with soap.

Another option is to try wiping down the containers, but I'm unsure how floor wipes and other 'anti bac' (never seen anti-virus ones) type wipes would be.
