Phoned a family member yesterday...im a key worker apparently so should be in work ( 2nd year student healthworker who has been sent home off placement and was offered no PPE or training in hospital also a single mum with a child with a cough so self isolating.)
Apparently her kids who work in education still have to go to work and did not have PPE either. I got the feeling she was like...well my kids are working so why aren't you?
I am annoyed as 1...i am a student who is not getting paid, will be a burden on the NHS right now as am not up to speed and also will not work for free if no PPE provided.
And 2....PPE is not essential for teachers..

I am staying at home and being responsible...she made me feel guilty. I will get through my ( online) exams then work in a supermarket till my next online placement.
Aibu to think that her kids are not more hard done by than me...we are in it together?

Not online placement...real placement.

This virus really is showing us who people are. Don't let anyone get to you.

No, of course not, but many people are unable to resist the suffering Olympics. You see it on here all the time when people talk about trauma for instance, someone will pop up with "other people have it worse", "I went through worse than that and I'm the happiest, healthiest person who ever lived" etc etc.

It's about the impact on an individual, not a hierarchy or competition, and not how someone else imagines they would feel or respond. Goes both ways, though.

And apparently self isolating isnt enough...we need to be reinventing ourselves as online gurus in exercise/ education etc overnight to help the "fight."
One friend thinks people should stop moaning about loosing their jobs over Corona and just "get another job stacking shelves ." Ok..but people can grieve for old jobs/ dreams.
