Lighthearted!

I’m just back off maternity leave and bought myself really nice new work clothes. I was quite excited to dress nicely and not be covered in baby snot😂

Currently working from home in my sweats while my lovely new clothes languish in a cupboard😏

Not pissed off, per se. Just bemused.
People have a habit of buying me quite thoughtless gifts. It doesn’t upset me really just baffles me. But I think that’s because I put a lot of thought into gifts.
So today I’ve got grow your own seed things (I often moan that I get no natural light in my house so how I can grow these in the set I don’t know) and flavoured chocolates. I hate flavoured chocolate.
I’ve smiled and I’m grateful for the gesture but what a bloody waste Confused

My starting island in Animal Crossing has apples as its fruit.

Boring!

Fortunately I've planted some cherries and pears so I'll get some new trees in a few days.

JenNtonic · 22/03/2020 09:52

Partner brought me coffee in bed but... but ... but it's in the wrong cup 🙄😫

Grin I’m very particular about my morning coffee cup too.

@Sexnotgender My type of lady ! It just puts me in a better mood, mind you I don't get out much 😂🙄

Sexnotgender · 22/03/2020 10:02

None of us are getting out much😂

That I've got nothing for Mothers Day. A day I usually think is a bit crap and Hallmark. But for some reason, it's pissed me off this year.

(And if I'd have got my cup of tea in the wrong mug this morning, it may well have tipped me over the edge!)

RJnomore1 · 22/03/2020 10:04

My kids are still sleeping and haven’t even had the grace to leave a card out for me. I know they have cards as I saw DH smuggling them in. They’re bloody 15 and 20.

My nick cave gig in May is cancelled. Gutted.

There is no football at all and god knows how long for.

All hugely inconsequential at the moment but making me that little bit sadder than I would like to be.

I’m sorry, I’m sure it must sting.

I sent my mum a bottle of grey goose. Usually I send flowers but the last few years they’ve been really disappointing so went with something I knew she’d like.

My holiday. No birthday or mothers day cards from the kids. I couldn't exactly send them to the shops in this climate but I'm still sad.

mamansnet · 22/03/2020 10:08

Very similar to you, OP. I had a short term job offer for a very highly respected organisation, would have taken me right up to my maternity leave (and then given me maternity pay) so I went out and bought a whole new summer pregnancy wardrobe.

A week later the job got cancelled because of coronavirus.

I've kept the clothes but can't wear them anyway as it's forecast 0 degrees here this week. And even if I did, there's only DH and DS here to see how lovely they look 😭

Strugglingtodomybest · 22/03/2020 10:09

Can I be your mum?

scattercushion17 · 22/03/2020 10:09

I was lucky enough to get a job on outskirts of a major city I love so I could explore.... No exploring for the foreseeable.

As you say, not a problem in the grand schme of things.

JenNtonic · 22/03/2020 10:12

@Sexnotgender 😁good point

abitoflight · 22/03/2020 10:12

I'll be going round with really dark roots
My dogs coat is going to be a nightmare to brush - she needs a trim now and her fur is so long. I might resort to a home cut for her

I sent a bouquet from Appleyard flowers and they’re totally dead Sad anyone else had a bad experience from them?
I think I’m going to stop ordering flowers online, the roses DP spent a lot of money on ordering for me for valentines were awful as well.

Mycatismadeofstringcheese · 22/03/2020 10:16

Dark roots you say? Try grey roots. I think headscarves are going to make a comeback!

Sexnotgender · 22/03/2020 10:18

@Turnedouttoes this is why my mum got grey goose. Last few years I’ve ordered flowers and they’ve been terrible. The vodka was about the same price as flowers so made sense to me.

My fringe, I usually have to get it cut every three weeks. It’s really ‘issing me off.

babasaclover · 22/03/2020 11:02

OP I'm with you on the clothes. Just about to go back to work Monday following an operation and some really lonely time at home and able to drive or do anything. Lost some weight and bought some new clothes to cheer me up and now can't wear them🙄

sweetpea2811 · 22/03/2020 11:06

@BadLad I feel you. I got apples too. What a let down.

Frlrlrubert · 22/03/2020 11:25

I got up with DD yesterday. I had remind DH it was his turn this morning, and then when I came down he was spark out on the sofa and DD was left to her own devices. No card as yet. He said yesterday he'd make one with her. She's 3.

He's currently making me breakfast, but I had to ask him to.

I'm getting sick of micromanaging him at the moment.

labazsisgoingmad · 22/03/2020 11:30

cant see my daughters for mothers day which is sad
my hair is awful long annoying grey come through all over colour and highlights want doing
holiday cancelled end April just a caravan at Borth but we love it there gorgeous caravan walk on beach in the morning then afternoon relaxing in the van then tea time walk heaven to us as we work literally every day of the year normally caravan park is now shut down

champagneplanet · 22/03/2020 11:31

DH had to go out and buy my card this morning and some flowers that look like they've been kicked around the shop. He's had ample time to arrange this stuff.

I have organised presents, flowers and cards for both our DMs, because they deserve to be treated. Im also sending a roast around to them (they live local).

I never seem to get the same treatment that I afford to others. But we're all here and healthy, that's the main thing.
