Do you know where your kids are right now?

Over the last week there has been a large increase in anti-social behaviour on Britain's railway network. Gangs of youths hanging around stations and boarding trains when they should be social distancing. Do you know where your kids are right now? Do you have anything more than their word for it? British Transport Police and the territorial police forces have better things to do than rounding your kids up.

Apart from anything else, if you have no good reason to be out in public, DON'T be.

Rant over.

In bed, checked about 5 mins ago

Ifigotherewillbedouble · 21/03/2020 21:52

My 23 year old is upstairs with my 11 year old and my 19 year old is sitting beside me on the sofa - we are all self isolating and whilst I appreciate you are having a rant YABU to talk to ALL OF US as if our kids need ‘rounding up’.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 21/03/2020 21:54

Yes, they’re in the back room playing x box.
Thanks for your concern.

PorpentinaScamander · 21/03/2020 21:54

Both upstairs talking to friends online/gaming.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 21/03/2020 21:54

I do know where they are: they're in bed. I put them there about an hour ago. One is asleep and the other is playing.

Dontrainonmyparade · 21/03/2020 21:55

Upstairs. I can hear them. Prior to that they haven’t left the house since being collected from school (I’m lying, at least one has spent time in the garden today). Seriously though, aren’t most kids in?

BogOffWinter · 21/03/2020 21:55

All three are in bed

Ragwort · 21/03/2020 21:56

Yes, my 19 year old is playing a board game with DH in the dining room, I should have made the effort to join them but after my final day at work before my shop is closed down I am exhausted and heading for a bath. Smile.

Oakmaiden · 21/03/2020 21:57

In their bedrooms.

The 22 year old (OK, not a child) is gaming online.

The 14 year old is drawing.

The 16 year old is playing with her teddy bears (yeah, really).

Definitely not hanging around on railway lines.

Yes I do actually.

Furrydogmum · 21/03/2020 21:58

Not all kids need rounding up to do the right thing..

elliejjtiny · 21/03/2020 21:58

I'm putting my youngest to bed, eldest is on the phone to his grandad and middle 3 are playing a board game with dh.

teenagetantrums · 21/03/2020 21:58

Not a clue but they not kids now. 25 year old in London lost his job due to this so probably on a game console drinking beer if he can find any. 23 year old stupidly apparently off to Liverpool from Birmingham to see a friend. No idea if she went after l told her not to. She also lost her job yesterday. I'm now looking at paying thier rents as l can't have then here we both key workers and trying to stay safe. Also can't imagine self isolating with then in tiny flat.

MindfullWWer · 21/03/2020 21:58

Yes he's upstairs (18) we had a "chat" earlier and a few clear viber messages from me followed. I laid the info on strong regarding social distancing. He knows he can go out to his gf house or to the grocery shop, but no willy nilly pop outs to see mates or gf if it can be avoided. We have to work together with this.

foamrolling · 21/03/2020 21:59

Yes. They're in their bedrooms Confused

APatchyTomCat · 21/03/2020 21:59

I do yes. The 21 year old and his girlfriend are on one sofa, the 20 year old is in her room, and the youngest is with his dad on that >> sofa.

IndecentFeminist · 21/03/2020 21:59

Mine are only 9,7 and 2. I know where they are at all times!

Jjacobb · 21/03/2020 21:59

DS 19 in the kitchen having just cooked his girlfriend a meal.
DD 16 and DS 14 watching tv in the conservatory.
DD 12 is in her room.
DS 10 in bed asleep

puds11 · 21/03/2020 22:00

Not sure where the baby is, she’s a wily one! Hmm

Picklypickles · 21/03/2020 22:01

I've just put them to bed after reading the Gruffalo's Child, they are 8 and 6, we live on a village on the moors nowhere near any train tracks and they are both afraid of the dark. We also have a deadbolt at the top of the door and they are pretty small.

x2boys · 21/03/2020 22:04

I think think mumsnet is probably the wrong audience for this tbh ,but yes 13_yr old is in his bedroom he does a good job of self isolation at the best of times Hmmnine yr old has severe autism and learning and he's either with me or his Dad or both of us .

OhTheRoses · 21/03/2020 22:06

DS 25 is at his girlfriend's.
DD 21 is upstairs

They have both given us a lecture today about staying safe. DH is still going to work (has to), I am going food shopping.

MindfullWWer · 21/03/2020 22:10

Puds, love it. x

BiddyPop · 21/03/2020 22:10

We have been out of school for more than a week (in fact 2 weeks as dd had a cough so we kept her out for 3 days even before schools closed).

She’s been out on the green at the front of the house when no one else there (except DH or I) and for a bike ride with DH where they didn’t stop. A walk as a family twice, where we kept apart from others. And otherwise at home - doing a lot of schoolwork, a few chores, some relaxing (movies, WhatsApp-Ing friends) and playing games with me (cards, board games). And quite a lot of cooking including 3 family dinners.

She’s 14 and understands the reality even if unhappy about it.

But it seems like most kids around here are doing similar.
