To think Corona posts can come out of the Corona section now?

Surely it was only set up as a few people thought it was a fuss about nothing or didn't want to panic.

OP posts:
ThePants999 · 21/03/2020 18:14

No, it was set up because lots of folks want to talk about things OTHER than coronavirus, and without its own section, everything else gets drowned out.

UnfinishedSymphon · 21/03/2020 18:16

Nooooooooo leave them where we are, I don't want to be bombarded with it on here too

UnfinishedSymphon · 21/03/2020 18:16

*Where they are

strongswans · 21/03/2020 18:16

No, it stops corona the talk flooding the other boards (well sort of) and also allows people to hide the topic if it causes them anxiety etc...

strongswans · 21/03/2020 18:17

*sorry corona talk, not corona the talk

MediocreOmens · 21/03/2020 18:20

Personally, I don’t want to hear about it. I am already socially distancing, I haven’t left the house in weeks. I am aware of the difficulty getting food/loo roll etc. It’s been very damaging to my mental health to be continually bombarded on all sides and have been actively reporting threads to have them moved and will continue to do so including this one.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 21/03/2020 18:22

Please no, keep them there. Its all I hear about on the news, I dont need to log on to here and find thread after thread about it

CottonSock · 21/03/2020 18:22

I want to talk about something else now. Enough is enough

SteeperThanHell · 21/03/2020 18:23

Working within the NHS AIBU is a bit of light relief - never thought I'd say that!

Keep corona where it should be...

TitianaTitsling · 21/03/2020 18:24

No, it was set up because lots of folks want to talk about things OTHER than coronavirus, and without its own section, everything else gets drowned out.. This times a million! I have been unsuccessfully trying to hide the topic for ages now, but have to hide post by post!!

ALemonyPea · 21/03/2020 18:25

No, leave it where it is! Means I can hide the topic and the crazy posts.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 21/03/2020 18:26

God no.

It is still like whackamole all over the rest of MN with people desperate to force their personal corona-pinion on the rest of us any way they can.

Imagine if the floodgates opened for the rest of them...

AuntieStella · 21/03/2020 18:27

I think it would be a very bad idea to stop moving COVID threads to the topic.

Having them together makes it easy to see them together, and easy to hide them (either long term, or just for an hour or two) to thunkmabout other things for a change

.

MinkowskisButterfly · 21/03/2020 18:27

I agree with @strongswans, the ability to hide it is good if it is causing anxiety.

Winterwoollies · 21/03/2020 18:28

I am doing everything I’m supposed to do re: Coronavirus. But I am heartily sick of it.

I’m trying to be rational and non-anxious but being very pregnant and very isolated now, it’s starting to get me down.

PLEASE can this be a virus free zone? There’s so many posts about it. Please can we have a break? 😟

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 21/03/2020 18:28

It’s been very damaging to my mental health to be continually bombarded on all sides and have been actively reporting threads to have them moved and will continue to do so including this one.

Ditto. Everytime I open the app, I first spend several minutes reporting all the new cv posts that have popped up.

To their credit, MNHQ are moving them over really quickly though.

sonjadog · 21/03/2020 18:30

Terrible idea. It would turn into the Corona board. Leave the rest of the board for people to talk about other things.

YangShanPo · 21/03/2020 18:33

MH is very important at this time and if people want to limit the amount of news and speculation they read that's sensible as long as they stay informed, say once or twice a day.

wanderings · 21/03/2020 18:33

In the words of Professor Lidenbrock: No, dammit, no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A hundred times no. I've hidden the CV topic, and I still see snippets of it on "trending now".

It almost makes me long for the ranting about Brexit, loo brushes, shoes on indoors, indoctrination by Christian MILs who give bibles as presents, and all the others which make MN boringly predictable.

To hide a topic, go to www.mumsnet.com/Talk/topic-choice Do it! Save your mental health.

Gingaaarghpussy · 21/03/2020 18:51

Nope! My mental health is too important to me. When the coronavirus topic first started popping up I promptly hid it.
Mumsnet is a what I want to use without ramping up my anxiety. I dont even do facebook etc or any national newspapers.
It's hard enough dealing with the idea of a lack of food due to panic buyers.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 21/03/2020 18:53

I'm well aware of how serious this is given what I do for a living
I come on here for some space keep it seperate and stop being a patronising twat

purplecorkheart · 21/03/2020 18:55

No, I work in healthcare and read/talk hear enough about it. I want some escape from it so I have blocked the topic

LtJudyHopps · 21/03/2020 19:06

I’m absolutely sick of it.
I’m practicing social distancing and working from home. I hate it. I’ve popped out in the car for some fresh air but not been anywhere since Tuesday. The one silver lining was that I can avoid corona talk, the news and the constant anxiety!
It’s already all over my social media I don’t want it here more as well. I just need a break from it sometimes!

PineappleDanish · 21/03/2020 19:11

MN is almost unusable at the moment which is a shame. Everyone's feeling anxious and unsure about the future. But certain posters on the CV board are trying to outdo each other with their apocalyptic predictions. In a perverse way, they will feel cheated if things aren't as bad as they've predicted.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 21/03/2020 19:11

No. My family are self isolating, we're worried and we're taking all the action we can. It's making me very anxious to constantly be reminded of the likely death of my family members should they become infected.

I need to just have a few minutes without it in my face please.
