It's too tempting to people to buy more than 1 item if it's on offer at say £1.50 normally, 2 for £2

Just anything to make people think twice before getting extra stuff.

I thought they had, I've had emails from Tesco, Sainsbury etc. I haven't read them all fully but at least 1 said they had removed all multi buy offers at present.

Morrisons hasn't.

I think that supermarkets have taken off all multi buys?

Greendin · 21/03/2020 09:47

Tesco have, they just haven't taken the signs down in my store because they've been too busy. I did get email about it. Hopefully people will buy less when they realise they have to pay full price for something.

Exactly.

Waitrose are still doing them but on things that don't seem to be contentious. Fresh veg for instance.

Not just supermarkets aswell, I work in a non essential store and the footfall that the offers are bringing in is ridiculous. Yesterday I dare say there were 300 people in my store at once all crowded around the same offers- social distancing straight out of the window!

Ocado have buy 1 get 1 half price on hot cross buns but limit you to one pack which is very annoying especially as recently pack sizes have reduced from 6 to 4 buns.

The best idea i've heard is what they have done in Denmark. Change the pricing so that (for instance) 1 is £1 and 2 is £5, £3 is £20.

I think it's fine to have multi buy offers on products they arent selling out of
