To apply for NHS work now

(Name changed). I would like to apply for a job at my local hospital in a admin and clerical role (I used to work there) but took time off having children.

My husband is wfh at the moment and is self employed. My children’s nursery are taking children but not if one parent is wfh.

I would like to apply for the position and the recruitment department want me to but as it stands if my DH has to loose work (as self employed he is exempt from 80% pay from the gov and only allowed to apply for benefits) then we can’t afford it.

AIBU to want to help the NHS by working for them? Or am I being ridiculous as I obviously can’t get childcare. I can’t employ a nanny as the nursery is charging full fees for both my children even now it’s closed to non key workers (it was in the contract we signed).

While there’s a lot of people on here saying key workers shouldn’t have childcare if their OH is wfh, I think a lot of key workers will have to quit their jobs unless they are the main bread winners.

Hang on a minute, your nursery are charging full fees but not accepting children with one parent who is a key worker (as you would be) if the other parent is working from home?

So they are assuming the WFH parent can care for two preschoolers while managing a full day at the 'office'? Are they nuts? Surely that's not how it's supposed to work?
