Hi can someone help me , I had booked a birthday party for my 6 year old in a play centre , this has has to close which I fully understand due to Coronavirus
However they are refusing to give me my money back , they have said I can re book for next year but I’ve no idea what or where I will be next year
Does anyone have any advice please

Are u moving then? Could you rebook as a goodbye party?

Sendallthegin · 20/03/2020 20:41

It would be my understanding that you are entitled to a refund as they have cancelled, not you.

What we’re the Ts&Cs upon booking?

Scattyhead · 20/03/2020 20:43

All it says on my booking is cancellation none refundable but I haven’t cancelled I know it’s no ones fault and this is something beyond anyone’s control but to keep my money is disgraceful I don’t know where I stand legally

No I am not moving but I can’t look that far into the future anything could happen x

As they're the ones that have cancelled (albeit for reasons pretty much outside their control) I'd be very surprised if they won't give you the money back. If you can find another date to move it to I would try to do that, to support them, but if that doesn't work for you I think they really should refund you.

Just rebook it. The company will be struggling financially so just have it another time.

Have some empathy for them.

Scattyhead · 20/03/2020 20:48

I certainly do have empathy I would rather give it to the workers that have maybe lost job or laid off , in fact I probably would do that even though I am struggling myself . It’s more annoying that they are refusing to answer me

Just rebook for when they reopen?

Scattyhead · 20/03/2020 20:54

Thanks ladies

How did you pay for it?

underneaththeash · 20/03/2020 20:56

Legally they can't do that, and if you can't afford to lose the money, I would push for it. You're covered under the Consumer Act 2015.

If you can though, I would just re-arrange.

Scattyhead · 20/03/2020 20:58

I paid by card through world pay , I think I will just re book , when we all get through this , stay safe everyone thanks for replying

It’s unlawful for them to keep your money if they are the ones who have cancelled. Threaten to sue them in the Small Claims Court. You can do it online for a small fee

GreenTulips · 20/03/2020 21:11

Ask the credit card company for charge back
