To ask if you would go for this job at this time

A and E receptionist in a London hospital. I have an interview on Tuesday. Ordinarily I would have loved a job like this but I don’t know whether voluntarily choosing to spend all my time in a hospital when I don’t have to is a good idea.

YANBU = you wouldn’t go for the job
YABU = you would go for the job

Thanks a lot.

If it is a job you can do well and you would enjoy then go for it. There will always be a reason not to go for a job. You could help so many people.

The only reason I wouldn't go for it is if I had anyone at home who was vulnerable.

you're not volunteering - it's a job - a paid role?

Fr0g · 20/03/2020 18:26

How secure is your current role?
Personally I would get a lot of job satisfaction from such a useful role serving the community, although it will be stressful.

Choufleur · 20/03/2020 18:27

Are you sure the interviews will still be going ahead

Helpmechangemymindsetplease · 20/03/2020 18:38

Yes the interview is still going ahead and it’s a paid job.

I would get a lot of satisfaction from helping people too.

In terms of vulnerable people I have three teens at home who are okay, but their Dad comes to see them and he is in his 60s and has had pneumonia before.

I am 51. The virus can make any adult seriously ill though in less numbers than elderly people.

Thanks for the messages and voting - that’s really helpful. So it seems most people would go for the job, though maybe my 63 year old ex would have changed the results if I had talked about him in my OP.
