I'm sorry to post in aibu, trying for traffic.
My ex husband owns a flat where he lives, negative equity plus the house i live in (my name not on mortgage, long story).
He is self employed and has been told that his contracts won't be there from monday and the tyle of work he does means he will have virtually no income.
Not eligible for UC due to owning 2 properties. Is there any financial help he can get anywhere? Obviously we can't sell as we live in the properties plus who knows how long it would take 😔 Just worried sick... Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction.

He’s not automatically ineligible for uc by owning two proportions. www.entitledto.co.uk/help/Own-other-property

Thankyou, that's a big help.... I've been on hold to citizens advice, but i don't think I'll get through tonight.

Sell one property and move back in together?

WrongKindOfFace · 20/03/2020 19:50

I very much doubt you’ll get through to CAB any time soon. He should just make a claim and see what he’s entitled to.

tickettocrazytown · 20/03/2020 21:25

Yes, i think that's what he's going to do, thanks wrong.... He needs help now, so no time to sell, i doubt it would be a good time to sell.

If he does decided to sell the property can then be disregarded for 26 weeks (according to the link) so it doesn’t need to sell immediately.
