Uterus infection - can someone help?

Given the stresses going on withing the NHS at the moment I wanted to see if anyone had any experiences here before I go further.

I've been on antibiotics for a week now for what was a suspected infection of my uterus after miscarriage.

Things seem to have cleared up but the past two days I've had a dull ache and very painful shooting pains up my bum!

Has anyone any experience of a uterus infection? I did have a temperature when they first suspected it but that has since come down to a normal level, I have checked again today and no temperature.

I don't want to bother 111 unnecessarily.

Anyone? There's so much stuff going on I know but I'm really worried there's something still going wrong down there 😔 the pains up there ( Blush ) are really painful, I've never had it before.

Hi there - I'm sorry to hear you have lost your baby and have been unwell.

I think you should call the 111 number

Zilla1 · 20/03/2020 18:04

OP, if you are in England then you should engage with 111/out of hours given it's part of your current course of treatment/A and E. Things will probably only get worse regarding Corona and the long-term effects of any damage 'around there' can be devastating.

Good luck.

PYyy · 20/03/2020 18:10

Thanks. I was going to ring but just feel awful doing it now with everything going on. I am okay in the sense I'm not seriously poorly, running a temp, nauseous or anything but as you say, the long term effects of damage down there are just so worrying.

Sorry for your loss. Are you constipated? That can cause shooting pains

PYyy · 20/03/2020 18:16

No I'm not constipated at all, that was the first thing I read on Google but no constipation Sad

I really feel for you, I had a uterine infection in the same circumstances several years ago, and ended up having to have a D&C. Please seek medical advice, you are not wasting anyone's time or resources. It's better to deal with it promptly than wait. My sympathies for your loss

ViciousJackdaw · 20/03/2020 18:29

Just another one urging you to call 111. Get yourself seen before things get busier. I have had a uterine infection too - it almost killed me. I know it's probably the last thing you need right now but please promise us that you'll call.

Zilla1 · 20/03/2020 18:29

Sorry, OP. I forgot to say sorry for your loss. It's grim. Don't feel bad about engaging with health services, you probably won't want to jeopardise your future fertility, incontenance or nerve damage.

bythehairsonmychinichinchin · 20/03/2020 18:30

Have you got any haemorrhoids? Is the dull ache in your bottom?

PYyy · 20/03/2020 18:33

I just doubt myself, I'm already anxious because of the actual miscarriage so I feel like I'm just worrying about nothing and wasting their time when so much worse things are going on.

But you're right, I can't risk there being a problem. I'll give them a call if I can get through.

No the dull ache is in my abdomen, like bad period pains (I shouldn't be due on yet though).

The pain in my bum feels like lightening shooting up there for a few seconds and then it stops. But when it is there it makes me shout out it's really painful.

I'm sorry for your lossThanks

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 20/03/2020 18:36

I had a uterine infection after an induction and the pains were exactly what you describe however they cleared up pretty quickly with antibiotics. If you are still getting pain you should definitely seek help.

PYyy · 20/03/2020 18:37

Thanks. I've been on my antibiotics since Thursday last week. The symptoms I was experiencing when I was first seen, sharp pains in my abdomen, clots but no bleeding and a temperature, have gone now. It seemed fine until this a couple of days ago.

Are you bleeding, or losing any discharged? Is there any offensive smell coming from your vagina?

Does pain relief help with the pain? Are you passing wind?

PYyy · 20/03/2020 18:40

Can it be an infection without fever? Like I say I did have a low fever when they first suspect it (38+) but my temp has come right back down now and still is.

OP posts:
PYyy · 20/03/2020 18:41

Bythehair, no bleeding or discharge. I was passing clots (the hospital said it looked like placenta left over at the time which worried me (sorry tmi) and a bit of discharge) but nothing since a few days of antibiotics.

OP posts:
PYyy · 20/03/2020 18:42

Not passing wind. Pain relief is not helping with the pain in my bum at all but that only happens for a few seconds every hour or so I'd say, helping slightly with the ache in my stomach.

I’d def get checked out if pain relief isn’t helping.

Zilla1 · 20/03/2020 20:09

OP, if you're in England, out of hours is still working in most areas so try them or 111. Don't worry about 'bothering them', you won't be and better for yourself to get it sorted and better to do it early than to leave it and need inpatients treatment in the future when English services are expected to be under more pressure.

Zilla1 · 20/03/2020 20:11

One more thing OP and not for me to advise but have you had or considered any counselling or support to help you with your experiences. It's not for everyone. It's grim and sorry again for your loss.

DinoGreen · 20/03/2020 20:16

Hi OP, I had a TFMR last summer and I had the shooting pains in my bum thing for around a week or two afterwards. I was also extremely bloated, to the point of being highly uncomfortable. I did get seen by out of hours a week after my procedure and they checked me over but were not concerned, and everything resolved itself within another week or so. I think you should get checked out, but hopefully you’ll be ok.
