Celebrities cashing in on current affairs

First of all it was that bloody Beatles song and now it’s pass the parcel with “who are you isolating for” and celebs tag each other in it.
It’s not the end of the world I get it but I can’t help feeling cheesed off that they do these things. It feels like they are cashing in on the situation to keep themselves in the spotlight.

Am I alone in this?

The "Imagine" song is the most out of touch cringe I have seen in a long time. These people are beyond narcissistic. Coronavirus has taken the attention away from them and they can't believe it!

The Joe Lycett one is much better

Some of them may be forced to get proper jobs !

I just saw Michelle pfiefer holding up an “I’m doing it for my sister” sign and tagging whatever other famous person to keep it going. Whoever you are doing it for, how about fuck off 😂

I wish they'd fuck off. I'm sure self isolation is easier with a few million in the bank and a wide choice of bathrooms

Self-isolating in a house the size of a hotel with its own pool and/or gym is infinitely easier than self-isolating in a three bed semi in Luton, that's a given.

To look at the positive side, if it helps some people realise that they need to self-isolate to help protect others then it'll have done some good. They have influence so it stands to reason they'd try use that influence to help.

They are doing it to stay relevant because they don’t want the plebs to forget them during the break. Bollywood celebs are walking around their communities in Mumbai reminding people to handwash and giving out free sanitizers / soaps etc which is more useful but still ridiculous.

It’s infuriating that they seem to Bogart everything.
No one cares who they are doing it for just that you are doing it.....like everyone else......

I dont follow celebs on SM but I loved the Joe Lycett 'imagine'. I'm isolating because my government has told me to. Because I'm being a responsible human. That's it.

It happens with every disaster or crisis, these vacuous, attention seeking celebrities bring it all back to themselves.

This! Can’t imagine being so bothered by this. Are you also complaining about the other people reaching out to others during this or is it just celebs? Also, did ever occur to you that if all these celebs decided to go completely quiet it would likely increase fear and panic since many people with social media follow some of these people and are used to seeing post from them. Yes, we’re supposed to be self-isolating and social distancing, but that doesn’t mean life shouldn’t have any semblance of normalcy in a troubling time. As long as they are not charging people, I don’t see the issue.

Most of them are just a self-obsessed waste of space anyway.
