Macdonald Drive thru - still a risk???

We are running low on food whilst self isolating (daughter developed a cough at weekend but almost gone now, has remained well, no temp etc) Trying to not go anywhere at all but food low and kids were asking if we could get a drive thru MacDs as a treat. I just don't want to take ANY risks at all...for any one.

I can have no contact with the MacDs worker, use contact less to pay, but how strict will it be inside MacDs. Is there a risk for us? I feel safer eating food I've made myself but I'm aware I'm probably being a bit ott.

As someone who works for this company, I can assure you that every measure is being taken by staff to keep everyone involved safe. Sanitation of hands, equipment etc has been ramped up and no contact whatsoever with customers is being enforced. If a crew member has to touch money, they then have to immediately wash their hands after.

Thanks that's reassuring. I am being extremely careful so just wanted to check. Thank you.

I wouldn't ever leave the house, if I were you, OP. There are many dangers out there. Just stay home.

Ubereats are offering free delivery in the U.K.

MadeForThis · 20/03/2020 16:17

If you are self isolating because someone in the house has symptoms then you shouldn't go out at all.

Order a fast food delivery.

It's to protect the McDonald's worker. Not you.

Kids get very mild symptoms. It could still be CV.

We live in a very rural isolated location. No one delivers here.

I would take every precaution at the drive thru from my side. I am a qualified nurse so am aware of infection control, also aware of not going out but it is OK to travel in a car and I need to collect dog food in town. It is being left on doorstep of shop and I've paid over phone. I am aware everything is a risk. But drive thru is minimal I think?

You are self isolating due to a family member having symptoms. Your treat should wait until you have done the 14 days, are there local facebook groups who could help you get supplies.

The risk is you to them not the other way around.

Scarlettpixie · 20/03/2020 17:45

Collecting dog food is fair enough if left outside. Could they help with anything else?

Scarlettpixie · 20/03/2020 17:46

Would takeaways deliver if you pay extra for delivery?

Marriedtoapenguin · 20/03/2020 17:46

Aren't some of the drive thrus locking the doors and serving via drive thru only not in store?

TheFuzzyStar · 20/03/2020 18:05

You shouldn’t be going to protect the McDonald’s worker. You are not 2 metres away from them at the window.

GrumpyHoonMain · 20/03/2020 18:36

You could order McDonald’s as a delivery.

nocoolnamesleft · 20/03/2020 18:43

You're isolated due to your dd being a possible case. YABU to put the McDonalds worker at risk.
