To think that, if it was a naked woman

Pictured in a shopping trolley, with men sharing it saying 'time to panic buy', it wouldn't be okay.

So why is it ok for women to do that with a picture of a naked man?

I'm not going to share the photo, I'm sure many of you will have seen it on social media, but hopefully even if you haven't there enough info here to make a call.

I thought it was going to be full of toilet rolls!!

fuzzyduck1 · 20/03/2020 12:49

I think it’s disgusting and degrading to men!

Oh no I mean funny and a bit of fun to get us all through this.

As long as women don’t get uptight when the picks of big boobed Women appear with witty nonsense quotes.

It’s all just a bit of fun.

maddening · 20/03/2020 12:59

Is this the same argument you see for racism - some jokes that it is just not OK for white people to make as that would be racist due to tha massive history behind racism. The same goes to sexism - due to the long history of sexism this joke would not work the other way round as it would then be sexist. If men had not treated women like shit from the start of humans to the 1980s where it started improving - and let's face it we aren't there yet - then a woman in a trolley would be fine, however they did and do and therefore it is not.

CatRamsey · 20/03/2020 12:59

I've seen it. Yes it was shared by a woman. I kind of chuckled to myself but that was that. It didn't offend me, and I scrolled past it and forgot about it until you mentioned it here.

If I saw men (or gay women) posting the same image with a naked woman, I don't think I'd really think anything of it, tbh.

Greggers2017 · 20/03/2020 13:01

Ffs people getting offended by humour in the shittest of times. Lighten up or it's going to be a long 12 weeks for you!

CarolHasAnotherUTI · 20/03/2020 13:04

Who is offended Greggers?

Who is offended Greggers?

You apparently or you wouldn’t have started this ridiculous thread.

littlebirdieblue · 20/03/2020 13:24

I saw this yesterday and although I did think the same thought as you it hasn't played on my mind or anything. It was just a bit of light hearted humour in these worrying times, but you are right in thinking if it was a naked women in the meme it would not have been taken well

CarolHasAnotherUTI · 20/03/2020 13:49

@Alsohuman Please do illuminate me by showing me where u said our even implied I was offended by it. You won't be able to, because it didn't happen. Grin

@littlebirdieblue it hasn't played on my mind either to be fair. The photo popped up again today as I was about to come on mumsnet and thought I would see what people thought. I've not been sitting mulling it over for ages, I promise.

Quite glad I posted though, as this thread has proved entertaining on an otherwise dull morning.

I don't get it. Are naked 'hunky' men for sale in Tesco now? What's the correlation to shopping for groceries? Do people purchase male sexual services at the Tesco self scanners?
AM I MISSING SOMETHING?

HelloBolloxMyOldFriend · 20/03/2020 15:42

I hope it's Jamie Fraser sitting in a trolley. Yes please.

rattusrattus20 · 20/03/2020 15:50

Stupid thread - pictures or it never happened.

Notredamn · 20/03/2020 16:19

The photo is upthread...

ukgift2016 · 20/03/2020 16:21

Aw I really want to see it now!

GreytExpectations · 20/03/2020 16:39

I understand your point OP. Unfortunately mumsnet is full of man-haters who don't give a toss about this because they have an "eye for an eye" mentality and can't comprehend equality is way we should be striving for and instead have to do a man vs woman competition about every issue as if they are primary schools kids.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 20/03/2020 17:13

There was an advert on danish tv with a man buying a woman at the supermarket. It was against human trafficking. Zero response.

Yes, a sense of humour 🙄

BeetrootRocks · 20/03/2020 17:35

Not seen it until posted

The style of that pic makes me think it might well have come from something aimed at gay men. There is no pic of who is going to push it, it's a photo sourced with a current 'joke' added. why do you assume it would be a woman buying?

Very homophobic and heteronormative of you op, you might want to check your biases Grin

BeetrootRocks · 20/03/2020 17:36

In other news, this is the diet Coke argument isn't it?

The existence of the diet Coke ad means that women are just as bad, and the sexualisation objectification mistreatment of women across the world for millennia is cancelled out.

BeetrootRocks · 20/03/2020 17:37

Have you seen the peta ads op

Etc etc

Stop being silly Grin

NameChangeNugget · 20/03/2020 17:39

You sound like a right laugh OP

cavabiensepasser · 20/03/2020 17:46

Poor menz.

After all, they've been objectified, sexualised, exploited, bought and sold by women, all over the world throughout history...

... oh wait.

Notredamn · 20/03/2020 17:56

Yes, a sense of humour

It doesn't even make sense. Takes more than the sight of a man nonsensically in a shopping trolley to have me creasing with laughter, I'll leave it to the juvenile few 👍🏼 (still don't get it).

You might want to check on who is sharing it online Grin
