To think Easyjet are currently staffed by holograms?

One to pretend to answer calls/chats and one to pick the (bloody awful) hold playlist?

I have to laugh or I'd smash the phone to smithereens when I see that I'm currently 576 in the queue and it'll be 300 minutes before I'm answered. (I wouldn't bother with it normally, except that DM can't or won't sort her email and tablet out so I'm lumbered with attempting to cancel her flight.)

'A representative will be with you shortly.' Really??? As the old cliche goes - don't call me Shortly, I'm aware I'm only 5ft 3.

Won’t they just cancel it anyway? I was supposed to go to Prague on 2nd April, easyJet emailed me 4 days ago to say it was cancelled and I just logged on to manage my booking to request a refund.

You do realise that those 576 people before you are likely in the same position as you and they can’t just magic extra staff out of thin air so that you don’t have to wait your turn.

NameChangeNugget · 18/03/2020 17:02

Smoke the peace pipe OP.

Where did you expect the company to magic up new colleagues?

Aveino · 18/03/2020 17:06

What exactly do you want from them?

Aveino · 18/03/2020 17:07

You can manage your flight options online - either rebook for another date - with no change fee. Or if your flight has been cancelled then you can request a refund.

The Airlines haven’t just magically found hundreds of extra staff that magically know how to work their systems etc, it will be the same 30 or 40 people (some may be off sick too) that will have been working around the clock for days. Plus they’ll have no jobs soon too.

ArthurDentsSpaceTowel · 18/03/2020 19:34

It's a domestic flight that I booked in my DM's name. They cancelled the return flight so I tried to find an option online to cancel the outward one; no option. So I filled in the contact form and sent it off to them. But DM is still getting stuff from them about the flight and she's panicking because she can't operate her tablet well enough to read her emails properly.

I get it's not an easy time for Easyjet. But why couldn't they put an option on their phone helpline: if you will no longer be travelling due to Covid-19 please press 4, enter your booking number, we'll be in touch? Better than forcing hundreds of customers on hold and then making them give up.

Similar issue, we have an internal flight booked for next weekend. They are offering free transfer online but we won't necessarily need to book that route again as it was for a specific reason, or at least not for an indefinite while, nor do we have further plans to travel atm. BA with whom we have the return flight is offering a voucher at least. Presumably EJ have not cancelled any UK flights yet.

I've just got out of Morocco on a rescue flight. Don't forget they are dealing with people in unsafe situations abroad before they deal with your holiday query!

TSSDNCOP · 18/03/2020 19:51

Well they’re going to do what you suggest, just the reverse.

They will contact everyone that’s booked, in order, to tell them what will happen to their booking due to Covid.

Until they contact you, just use your phone to play Clash of the Titans, it’s cool.
