Ah. Well, the Canadians are big tough guys who live naked in the snow, yes? So it's probably to be expected that they will be better than us. And, we probably use better hair gel. And also, at least it's not Papua New Guinea. And... hang on, I'll try to think of some more comforting things...

Yay, Scotland won. 2 "historical" moments this weekend, Scotland won football and rugby!
Maybe our luck is on the turn

ghosty · 10/09/2007 08:22

Just wait till the 23rd Saltire, when the All Blacks take on Scotland
Ps ... I am wearing an All Black sweatshirt today ... not recommended when you live in Australia

tjacksonpfc · 10/09/2007 08:28

we got welsh flags hanging out the front of our house as everyone around ud has english ones and ours very nearly came down at half time glad we decided to wait till full time

ScottishMummy · 10/09/2007 08:40

i was still cheering you

saltire · 10/09/2007 08:49

ghosty I predict that Sxcotland will beat the All Blacks 124 - 67!.

Or maybe not.
I didn't realsie all the home nations teams were in the World Cup until the weekend, I'd never heard Scotland, Wales or Ireland being mentioned by the sports commentators

lockets24 · 10/09/2007 08:50

hubby supports wales, i am in the england camp (not feeling quite as positive as 2003!!) and we are both big Rugby fans i have told him when we have a baby it can have a liverpool shirt (the football team he supports) but its an England Rugby shirt all the way!!!

x

ScottishMummy · 10/09/2007 08:54

i cheer anyone except england

ghosty · 10/09/2007 11:42

LOL saltire ...
One look at the All Blacks' Haka and those Scots will the picking up their skirts and running for the hill ...

Not sure I like the Welsh wearing Black as their 'alternative' kit though ... surely only the Kiwis are allowed to wear black? I thought that was the law!

ghosty · 10/09/2007 11:43

or 'hills' even ... doh ..

saltire · 10/09/2007 12:17

We'll just get a brass band to play Flo'er O Scotland at a funeral march pace (instead of it's usual faster pace played on pipes), and that will scare the kiwis into submission!

ScottishMummy · 10/09/2007 12:26

i defo think in fact our scottish anthem should be HOOTS MON by LORD ROCKINGHAM'S XI there's a moose loose* abbot this hoose^ imagine the dancing

Hoots Mon is a song written by Harry Robertson. It was a UK #1 for three weeks in 1958. The song was featured in a commercial for Wine Gums, sung by Lord Rockingham's XI.

The record is mostly instrumental, punctuated by three (stereo) typical Scottish phrases:

"Hoots mon" is an interjection usually meaning "Hey!"
"There's a moose loose aboot this hoose" ("There's a mouse loose about this house") is standard cliche highlighting Scottish pronunciation.
"It's a braw, bricht, moonlit nicht." ("It's a beautiful, bright moonlit night") is a similar cliche.

saltire · 10/09/2007 19:29

Flo'er o Scotland is ok, easier to learn than some suggestions for national anthem such as Scotland the Brave.
Have never heard o that song Scottishmummy, shall look into it.
