My 2 year old has a speech delay and today for the first time he said bubble and goggles - it was very cute and he was very pleased with himself.

I dropped off my MILs shopping this morning, she is 91 and lives alone. Her neighbours are 2 young lads who she moans about because 'they have motorbikes'. They had stuck a note through her door with their numbers on saying let them know if she needs anything and hope she's ok.

Happy Birthday @NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace

Feels a bit of a double edged sword right now but we’ve just had our offer accepted on our dream house. Our EA is confident ours will proceed as expected but I’m a worrier so not feeling quite as excited as I should be. Just keeping crossed all goes to plan!

Lots of things are making me happy. Spring is finally here. The days are longer, the sun is shining. I had a 2 hour walk in the woods today, enjoyed hearing the birds singing, seeing the wild garlic sprouting and watching the squirrels. Our rescue cat has finally come out of hiding and loves falling asleep on our laps. Our street has formed a Whatsapp group so we can all look out for each other, the parents at my children's school are also supporting each other. Nice to see people coming together. Although I know it'll be challenging working from home and looking after the kids I won't miss the school run or the mad dash to work. I look forward to having some quality time with the children. I'm pleased we'll save money by not going to restaurants, cinemas etc so much. I'm looking forward to lots of time spent in fresh air and nature with our picnics.

Hmmm I'm trying to appreciate the simple things and not think about the bigger things. The tulips I planted in autumn are all beginning to come out. Sofas which have been on order for ages are coming next week. I managed to hastily rearrange our small wedding from May until the end of October. DP has just made me a cup of tea in my giant mug Smile

Happy birthday @NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace

I've been asked for the next 50 pages of my novel - after sending the first 5 and a summary to a literary agent. Early days but it is encouraging. Particularly as I think my MA (creative writing obvs) graduation is likely to be cancelled.

Happy Birthday NLSATF!

Not sure if it counts but figured this is a good time to order some caterpillars. You get to watch them grow fat then turning into butterflies.

Fairyliz · 19/03/2020 15:40

I’ve been fighting a thick as steel white hair on my chin for about two weeks. Every day I managed to grab it with tweezers but couldn’t pull it out it just broke off.
Today I managed to get the bugger out. Felt as pleased as if I had won a round with Tyson Fury Grin.

hannabarbera · 19/03/2020 18:34

I’m finally pregnant after 7 years of infertility 🙂

Pinkypink · 19/03/2020 21:24

Doesn't really compare to @Littlebb2020 -congrats!
But a mum on a WhatsApp group commented that with all the kids off school and secluded at the moment, (not uk) it's possible that headlice will be eradicated...

excitedforbaby9 · 19/03/2020 21:29

Love this thread. I've just been able to afford a new dyson Hoover as mine has been dying for a year. It's brilliant!

powkin · 21/03/2020 20:51

Finished my Masters dissertation. I planned to finish it before DD arrived last Feb but she was a 3 weeks early and I was so swollen I had to lie on the floor all day with my legs in the air anyway so I didn’t have a hope in hell.

It has been very hard trying to juggle DD and work and writing but am really proud of what I’ve achieved. I can’t wait to finally have the certificate in my hand. I really wanted to bring DD to my graduation so she could eat/wear the mortarboard but the result is all that really matters. It means I’ll finally be able to start my new career and hopefully earn more money after a very lean 3 years. I hope DD will be proud of me one day! I’d love to go back and do the full doctorate I started but life took me in a different direction and I’m glad I didn’t wait to try as she’s ruddy exhausting!

Other bit of good news is I had PND for whole of DD’s first year and although I still find some days really challenging and anxiety provoking and feel I won’t cope, I am 1000% better than I was at my worst. I’ll probably always be anxious and today was hard but we also had giggles, she played with a balloon and threw a ball really well. They change so much every day!

Timewastingideas · 21/03/2020 20:54

Watching things starting to grow in the garden- yes I really am that boring!

BiscuitMachine · 21/03/2020 21:00

We made a pond last year, and this is its first spring. In the last few days lots of frogspawn has appeared, and a pair of ducks have moved in. It's lovely Smile

Fuckyoumenopause · 21/03/2020 22:17

I got given a table and chairs for free which needs a bit of TLC but now I have a little upcycling project to do whilst isolated! Smile

Purplealienpuke · 21/03/2020 23:37

I finally defrosted my freezer 😁
Not a big thing for some people but a real challenge for me.
Such a great thread, thank you for the happiness ❤
