Asus are about 200, I got one on black friday fomr Amazon for 170 but they are still around the 200 ish mark. I've just done video conferencing on it so it will do everything you need. The cost is MS office though, I get that free through work.

Buy a refurbished model from eBay. They aren’t particularly slim line or trendy but they have decent spec and will perform a lot better than a sub £200 (or £400) new laptop.

TBH I don’t know if you can even get a new laptop for under £200? I bought one in the sale from PC world for my auntie for £199 and that was about 6 years ago.

Definitely have a look at Chromebooks or Cloudbooks ! Perfect for what you're looking for! The two I linked are both under 200

They're also super lightweight and don't look 'bulky' like a lot of laptops for that price.

If they are only using it in the house then what about CEX or similar? I got my phone from there, had an issue 48 hours later and they swapped it for a new one with no problems whatsoever. For homework you only really need the most basic of models.

I would go to somewhere like cash generators or local ( reputable ) repair shop , or have a look at your local police auctions you can get some great deals on there
Here is one to give you a idea of what they are like
