To leave a job during probation period.

I am hoping there are some HR pro's out there or anyone else who has had a similar experience.
I have been working in my IT administration job for almost 6 months (probation ends in 2 weeks).
Due to matters beyond my control (that I cannot discuss due to outing worries), and after receiving a better offer elsewhere, I have decided to leave.
I've never left a company during the probation period before. If I leave by Friday, will I still receive payment for the days in March I have worked?
Also do I need to give notice?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

You will receive payment for days worked. Regarding notice- what does your contract say? Ours says 1 week during probation, 4 weeks thereafter. If you would rather not serve the whole notice period, you could ask for them to consider releasing you early- though obviously they don’t have to.

There’s nothing stopping you leaving.

Check your contract it will outline your notice period - if within your probation period 1 week is fairly common.

You will still be entitled to be paid for any days you have worked, plus or minus any days annual leave you have accrued but not taken / taken but not accrued.

I would say leaving Friday would be a bit short notice, unless they agree to a reduced notice period.

Thank you for your replies. If I remember correctly, my contract states I do not have to give notice during the PP. However i would not like to burn bridges. So I would always offer notice.
I will check my contract today.
