To ask for legal help? U.K. company in administration, Irish branches

Hello all, posting here for traffic.

Does anyone know whether a U.K. company going into administration but with Irish branches will have to pay its employees their wages for the month under Irish/EU law? Also, does anyone know whether redundancy will be paid in this situation?

Hi, I don't want to presume - Are you asking because you're based in the RoI/Irish sites (I know that's almost certain but I wanted to check to make sure you weren't asking if a UK company would do things differently in the UK if they had overseas locations, if that makes sense).

If in Ireland then I understand the company should pay unless it doesn't have the funds and then you can/would need to apply for a payment from the state (www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employment/unemployment_and_redundancy/redundancy/redundancy_payments.html)

I think the situation is similar in the UK.

Sorry to hear and good luck.

Yes that's correct Zilla, Republic of Ireland based. Thank you very much, that's very helpful.

Think Irish law is quite stringent on protecting domestic workers rights when dealing with international companies. I worked for a South African comparably there and was well protected by Irish law and Irish state when they folded.

All the best.

Company not comparably!

If it’s a UK-registered company, then I think the administration will be dealt with under UK insolvency law.

OP, are you an employee of the insolvent company? If so, with which entity exactly is your employment contract? PM me if you want.
