Had sudden onset of severe upper abdominal pain feels like a tight painful band just under my ribs, have been vomiting, nothing but curling up into a ball, even slightly eases it,lying down and walking make it worse and I end up vomiting, shivering and cant get warm.
I called Drs as soon as it opened ,cant keep anything down and the pain is unbearable, was told I'd get a call back, the pain is getting worse, but had no call, not sure what to do. Understandably with current situation, dont want to waste Drs time, but cant get any advice or help from anyone

Are you alone?

Etinox · 17/03/2020 11:41

If you’re able do the 111 online service.
If you can’t, honestly I’d call 999

Willthepaingoaway · 17/03/2020 11:45

Partner is at work have asked them to come home,I was hoping to avoid that but cant get through to anyone any other way

Have you ever had gallbladder issues? Those symptoms sound exactly like the attacks I used to have

Willthepaingoaway · 17/03/2020 11:50

Had it investigated in the past ,but no stones were found ,Not had pain this bad before

livsmommy · 17/03/2020 11:56

Sounds exactly like a gallstones attack to me.

UsernameUnknownn · 17/03/2020 11:57

I had this it's bloody awful and I've had it on multiple occasions except I went into the sweats I had cholecystitis

UsernameUnknownn · 17/03/2020 11:58

Sorry pressed sent to early I had a gallbladder infection

potter5 · 17/03/2020 11:59

Gallbladder. Had same issue and pain. Had gallbladder taken out in Feb this year.

UsernameUnknownn · 17/03/2020 12:00

Get a cold flannel and place it on your forehead if you can.
Take pain medication and go to A&E or phone 999. This is what they advised me.

IamDisappeared · 17/03/2020 12:01

Take Buscopan if you have any

jellybeanteaparty · 17/03/2020 12:04

See if heat helps ( hot water bottle or towel in bag ) painkillers and distracting untill meds kick in.

inwood · 17/03/2020 12:20

Sounds like gallbladder. I would never normally advocate this but these aren't normal times, call 999 at least they will triage you.

fatandshatteredfairy · 17/03/2020 12:27

I was just about to say gallbladder but I see everyone has beat me to it. Mine got so bad (was 6 months pregnant at the time) that an ambulance was called for me as I physically couldn't move without throwing up.

It took doctors and hospitals nearly a year to diagnose it. I ended up on morphine in hospital during the last onset off it and they rushed me through as my pancreas was in a bad way. Don't let them fob you off!

MissSmiley · 17/03/2020 12:29

Gall bladder attacks tend to be self limiting so if you do nothing the pain will mostly likely subside in about 6 hours, if it continues longer it probably isn't gall bladder (I know this from bitter experience) when did the pain start?

Willthepaingoaway · 17/03/2020 12:42

Dr seeing me this afternoon, pain started about 24 hours a go,slowly getting worse,That's what I feel like, even getting to the bathroom leaves me vomiting in pain, hopefully Dr can do something

QuestionableMouse · 17/03/2020 12:46

My GP would send you straight to A&E. I'd honestly just make my way there directly.

Not to scare you but heart attacks can present like that so you need to be seen ASAP.

Cherry4weans · 17/03/2020 12:55

Treat this seriously obviously but if it happens to be a gallbladder attack apples and apple juice might ease symptoms (don't rely on this though its just to hopefully help pain in meantime)

Yellowcakestand · 17/03/2020 13:49

I was like this for days, ended up on the floor, unable to move. Had USS, endoscopy and biopsies taken. They couldnt find anything wrong. The was about 6 years ago. Ive had one more bout since, last year but nowhere near as bad. Hope they find out what it is for you.

fatandshatteredfairy · 17/03/2020 17:09

How you doing @Willthepaingoaway ?

Willthepaingoaway · 17/03/2020 22:05
