To think it should be easier to cancel

I need to cancel my RAC membership.

I can go online and get extra add-ons, but I cannot cancel online.

They are not the only offenders, but AIBU to say it should be as easy to cancel something as it was to get it in the first place?

Fed up of having to jump through hoops to cancel stuff.

Just cancel the direct debit with the bank.

TheMarbleFaun · 15/03/2020 23:23

Totally agree
I had this same problem with RAC took about 20 minutes to get through on the phone

I can't cancel the DD as it's a credit card payment. Credit card co says the seller has to cancel.

Yep totally agree, I had the same with them earlier this year.

HarrietTheShy · 16/03/2020 08:46

Yep, it's total bollocks. I always check now how easy it is to cancel before I take on a subscription.

It’s the same with things like sky if you want to downgrade your package you have to phone but it’s simple to upgrade online!

I get it’s because they want to persuade you to stay but it’s a pain and no matter how much they try to pester me I won’t change my mind!

Presumably their compliance department have assessed the system to ensure they are discharging their obligations under the 2010 equality act ? Say with regard to people who cannot use the telephone for some reason ?

I've dealt with a few organisations that haven't. It only comes out when you hold their feet to the fire and suddenly - mysteriously - that which "wasn't possible" is possible.

It's disgusting how many little marketing "ploys" such as this are just a massive steaming pile of shite that is lovingly drizzled over the less able.
