Bloating.

Hey guys.

I’ve been bloated for the past two weeks and it hasn’t yet gone down. I had my period and got the usual period bloat. My period ended but the bloat stayed. I then had another period and still bloated.

Does anyone have any remedies or an idea what it could be. I’ve started taking peppermint oil capsules but I dunno if they will make a diff.

Thank you.

Actually not two weeks, I’d say 6 weeks. Sorry.

Have you changed your diet, OP? Are you drinking enough? Is it relieved with a good poo and if so, are you going regularly? Have you had a chance to your toilet habits? Do you have any pains? Also, how old are you?

Sorry for all the personal questions.

If everything is normal, it might be worth a quick GP visit to rule out anything a bit more nasty (which is very, very unlikely by the way).

Feelthethunder · 15/03/2020 20:23

Hey, thank you for getting back to me.

I’m 30. And with regards to bathroom habits, it did start where I wasn’t actually able to go (only going little bits) around the time of being bloated so I assumed it must have been connected to that. If I do use the bathroom, I’m still bloated after so I would r say it makes a difference.

I’d started drinking earl grey which I assumed was making me bloated so I stopped that but I don’t think my bloating was caused by that.

With regards to diet, it’s exactly the same. Nothings changed there and I don’t drink a lot anyway, I’m not keen on water and I find it hard to fit into my routine. /:

Thanks xx

You should go to the GP (or phone them as is the case atm). It’s unlikely but persistent bloating can be a symptom of ovarian cancer so best to get it checked out. Or it could be IBS?

Splitsunrise · 15/03/2020 21:45

Pregnant?

spurs4ever · 15/03/2020 22:05

Please get this checked out. It's a common symptom of ovarian cancer which at your age is very unlikely but best to get it checked either way, especially if you have any other symptoms which are unusual for you x

Hippee · 15/03/2020 22:13

Have you eaten more bread? DH and I are eating less and have noticed considerably less bloating.

Feelthethunder · 16/03/2020 08:21

No, I’m not eating more bread. I don’t tend to eat a lot of bread anyway. (:

With regards to ovarian cancer, I don’t really have any other symptoms other than being bloated.

I tend to feel a little gassy in a morning, like I’m wanting to burp more and stuff like that. (:

By bloating do you mean a distended stomach?

cantbefagged · 17/03/2020 05:23

Please see your GP. Not wishing to cause undue worry, but people are right about screening for cancer. I have bowel cancer, and v few symptoms. Please get checked x

Insideimsprinting · 17/03/2020 06:42

Do you drink fizzy pop?
I never looked or felt to bloated untili gave up 2 bottles of diet coke a day ( 500ml ones). Couple of days after I stopped my stomach was flaterand guts felt better 3 weeks later still good.

Feelthethunder · 17/03/2020 09:44

Hi.

I drink fizzy pop but not an obscene amount. I had a can yesterday and again on Sunday. I last had one Thursday so I don’t think it’s anything to do with that.

I’ve woken up today feeling quite gassy, I’m literally clutching at straws though. I will give the doctors a ring and see if they can help me. I’m hoping that it’s just due to my non existent bowl habits.

How can I make sure I get tested. I don’t wanna be fobbed off. I’d rather rule it out but also want to be taken seriously. I’m not sure whether my Doctors is the type to fob people off but I’m hoping not. (:

Thanks xxx

Have you had constipation for a long time or is it quite recent OP?

Feelthethunder · 17/03/2020 21:50

@Zerrin13 I’d say since the bloating started.

Thelnebriati · 17/03/2020 21:53

Mention that to your GP, its a sympton and they need to know.

Zerrin13 · 17/03/2020 21:55

Have you tried eating more fruit and veg and fibre?

Feelthethunder · 18/03/2020 09:13

@Zerrin13 I eat a lot of veg (tend to include it in majority of meals)

With regards to fruit, I don’t eat a lot of it. We have oodles of it (peaches, strawberries, apples, bananas, oranges and raspberries) but I don’t usually grab for it.

Morning.

Little update - I’ve rung the doctors, they’re going to call me back as unfortunately I can’t attend the surgery (the virus)

Everything’s still the same, bloated and struggling to use the bathroom. I did manage to go yesterday but it was straining and I felt like I hadn’t got rid of it all (this is a common occurrence since I’ve been bloated)

So sorry for the way too much info. I tried to keep it as PG as possible.

Thanks guys. Will keep you updated on what doc says. (:

Glad you made the call.
(This is MN. More detail the better)

Feelthethunder · 19/03/2020 11:33

Hey everyone.

I’ve spoken to the doctor. I told her all my symptoms and she believes it to be that I’m just constipated and has advised that I get some OC laxatives. She said ovarian cancer isn’t at the top of her list of things it could be.

Not sure if I was fobbed off or if she’s right. I’m going to try some Senna and see what happens.

Will keep you updated.

Thank you all for you input. 🥰🥰
