I’m going to buy a thermometer. Any recommendations? Is an ear one better?

We can see this thread is a little old now and some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best baby thermometer page with lots of great options (some of which can be used by the whole family) – we hope you find it useful. Have you tried to buy one? None in stock

Bluebird29 · 14/03/2020 23:40

I was looking on amazon.

I have a braun thermoscan in-ear, had it a few years now and very happy with it.

Bluebird29 · 14/03/2020 23:49

I think that’s going to be the one I’m going to get £60 though now!

All the LOLz. Good luck getting one ANYWHERE.

DettolsYourFriend · 14/03/2020 23:51

The Braun one?... is £60!? Gosh, I think I only paid about £25 max
That must be cv related price boom? Gutted.

We have a Braun IRT6020 ThermoScan 5 Ear Thermometer bought in July 2019 for £34 from amazon. Recommended by the hospital as DH had to take his temp every few hours post cancellation related surgery.

ThunderPython · 14/03/2020 23:53

I've just ordered very basic one off amazon, delivery due 1-11 April lol.

GrumpyHoonMain · 14/03/2020 23:54

I have the braun in-ear one as my hospital uses these for kids. The trick is to ensure you have your child’s normal temp recorded so you know when to get help.

Bluebird29 · 14/03/2020 23:54

Mine said due in on 17th so not long to wait.

I don’t have kids but if it’s good enough for a hospital then it’s good enough for me. Thanks.

eBay has quicker delivery times than amazon as long as you check it’s not from China/Chinese suppliers.

They are getting sneaky with this ‘location’ filter.

Sceptre86 · 15/03/2020 07:07

You can buy them from chemists too and the braun one is expensive at £60. I purchased one yesterday.

devildeepbluesea · 15/03/2020 07:08

I have the Braun one, had it for years. I did pay about £40 and I think it was reduced.

Ive got the Tommee Tippee one but cant find the little plastic ear covers anywhere. Just ordered a little baby hygiene kit from Amazon on Prime delivery which had little nail scissors, brush, and a little thermometer for £12. That'll have to do!

Cockola · 15/03/2020 07:57

I have one which is fine as long as your temp isn’t over 34.5° 🙄

FallonSwift · 15/03/2020 08:09

Our thermometer broke a couple of weeks ago. Ordered a new one off Amazon - just a basic job. £3 odd for the thermometer and over £30 for 'express' delivery if you want it before April...
