A bit of a strange one but my 5 year old is Disney Princess mad and wanted to watch the 1936 classes Snow White. Now I haven’t watched this film since I was a little girl myself and probably didn’t pay much attention then...

But after watching it with her yesterday I’m a bit WTAF with the ending???? I know it must be open to interpretation but that castle all golden in the clouds??? Now I’m questioning everything!!! 🙈🤔

Had to go and find a YouTube of it as couldn’t remember. It’s a bit odd and old fashioned, but it’s followed by ‘ they all lived happily ever after’ so I’m guessing it just suggests her life is a dream with him? Not sure what to WTAF about.

the ending of a 1930's cartoon has you 'questioning everything' - really?

isseywith4vampirecats · 14/03/2020 22:12

life was totally different in 1936 there wasn't the technology and artists could actually draw in those days so of course they were going to draw a fantastic golden castle in the clouds not a council maisonette which is what snow white would end up with nowadays

Questioning what actually happens at the end, I started thinking did she actually die and that was her going to heaven? It was meant to be lighthearted how I wouldn’t have given it a second thought as child and only took notice watching again as an adult.

You should read the Grimm’s versions of all the Disney classics Confused.. death would be a happy ending for some of them.

Snow White lives but the witch gets it.

I will read the proper grimms story’s I think!

What is WTAF about a castle in the clouds?

TheCountessatHotelCortez · 14/03/2020 22:33

I’ve already explained above, it was just a bit of a raised eyebrow moment, as I say my first thought was did she actually die and that’s all just how it played out afterwards. The thought process of adult vs childhood

Oh god my 2 year old loves this film and now you’ve got me questioning it! Lol

TheCountessatHotelCortez · 14/03/2020 22:37

At least someone sees the light hearted side of what I was trying to say 😂

It’s not a castle in the clouds it’s just in the distance! 😂

TheCountessatHotelCortez · 14/03/2020 22:45

I know that’s the likely answer but at first thought I was like how far in the blooming distance just it be to have clouds below it 😂😂 the Prince is death come for her 😂😂
