Accidentally bought some maternity trousers, WIBU to keep them?

Rummaging in TK Maxx, looking for some smart but comfy work trousers, picked up a pair of Massimo Dutti pants. A strange waistband with a stretchy internal bit but perfect length and cut. A sort of hipster hang. As the shop was closing, I bought them thinking I could return later.

Now that get home, I find that the stretchy bit pulls right up, over my tummy. Sooo comfy, sit just right. Warm! No label to indicate maternity wear, but oh god, they're trousers for pregnancy aren't they? But they fit just so! WIBU unreasonable to keep them?

Full disclosure: I'm not pregnant. But I may be an idiot.

Of course you should!

Who cares! My DD is three and I still wear mat leggings!

Pindlesandneedles · 14/03/2020 18:58

They’re comfy, I’d keep them Grin

I bought a gorgeous top from Dorothy Perkins years ago, it was white with navy polka dots and some navy detail, looked fabulous with white trousers and my white pleated skirt that summer, someone did tell me somewhere along the line that it was a maternity top. I thought for a moment I should stop wearing it, but I received so many compliments I thought to heck with it. Grin

I prefer my maternity jeans to my normal jeans. Keep them

Keep them! DD was almost 2 before I put my favourite maternity leggings away and that was only because I figured we'd have another baby at some point and I wanted to keep those bad boys in good condition Grin

I am not and will never again be pregnant. I keep thinking that might buy some maternity jeans just because I remember just how comfy they are! Keep them! Smile

I’m not sure Massimo Duti do maternity clothes? Nothing on their website.

Uniqlo do normal trousers with stretchy sides. I think it’s a thing. Gets rid of bulky flies.

Summerhillsquare · 14/03/2020 19:30

@BikeSkiRun ooh that's reassuring.

I did read somewhere that flat fronted, side stretch trousers are flattering for us larger of stomach women.

I kept some of my pregnancy pants for flying, Christmas and general comfy days. They're great.

The first time I bought maternity jeans it was an absolute revelation - why don't all jeans have elastic at the waist ?! Sooo much more comfy Grin

I have a pair of maternity trousers and love them! Great cut & length. I'm not letting them go. You're not alone, OP.

I bought some maternity linen black trousers a couple of summers ago. They are the most comfortable thing to wear on a really hot day

Summerhillsquare · 14/03/2020 20:22

This is comforting. But are you a bit embarrassed to wear them in public? Anyone ever spotted them?
