DD and I were just watching Child of our Time together and discussing social attitudes, DD (who is not heterosexual) says that many people today think it is more acceptable to be a different sexuality to the majority than it is to be obese - I think she's probably right as it's not an issue any more if you are hetero or homosexual in my social circles but a lot of people frown upon people for being obese (I don't, it's an issue for them to consider. I'm not thin myself)

What do we think about what? Obesity?

polarfrogs · 14/03/2020 13:17

social attitudes...do people think different sexual orientation is more acceptable than obesity.

Well I didn't choose to be heterosexual, but my actions and choices have led me to be obese.

I'm not saying obese people should be judged or frowned upon, but it's something that is avoidable, changeable and unhealthy. Where as sexual orientation isn't something we choose and isn't unhealthy.

So yes it makes sense more people think being LGBTQ+ is more acceptable than being obese.

Do you actually have to ask if people see sexual orientation and obesity the same?

What a strange thread.

For the record, I couldn't care less who people shag. And yes, I do judge people that make lifestyle choices that will cost them their health.

That's not what I asked.
