You have pate! All I've got are Space Raiders. But they are pickled onion ones.

I remember a pub I used to frequent as a student - if no one put any money in, the juke box would default to 'Now that's what I call Christmas' or something of the kind. So people would ram it with 20ps just to shut up Mike Oldfield's version of In Dulce Jubilo (in mid-April.

PenguinsOnParade · 14/03/2020 02:47

OMG my phone does that with Christmas songs and I don't know why. I must have fat fingers that hit random things because I'll be quietly walking along the street and "Step Into Christmas" will start blasting at people. Blush It's worse than a bit dial.

I have pâté no longer sadly. That was the last of it but it was good while it lasted. Which wasn't long. Grin

PenguinsOnParade · 14/03/2020 02:49

Butt dial. Autocorrect is starting to hate me so this might be the last wine tonight then. Blush

TheMemoryLingers · 14/03/2020 02:56

I'm sorry to say not, HairyHands. Wish I did though!

I find at my age I have a lot of layered memories of music - it will remind me of more than one period of my life and I have a different experience of the track depending on which set of memories I let loose.

PenguinsOnParade · 14/03/2020 02:57

It's a sign when I ask Alexa to play James and she starts with my favourite song right? Grin (Laid btw, love singing along to this one the most hehe.)

@ILikeyourHairyHands

I'm definitely geriatric on this thread because I turn 50 this year.

My only sibling is eight years older than me so I do love songs that are from her era, the late 70's & 80's. My first husband is 16 years older than me so I'm well versed in his era too of late 60's and 70's. My husband and I are the same age but he prefers rock music from the 70's and early 80's. He loves Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Rainbow, Queen and ELO. I love all sorts of music and I am pretty proud of my eclectic taste in music ranging from the 50's to now. My children range in age from 28-19.

I work for a winery part-time so I always have wine in my house. I hit a monthly sales quota and was rewarded with a case of wine. I have three California Pinot Noir, three Viognier, and three Cabernet franc. It's a tragedy, I tell you.

TheMemoryLingers · 14/03/2020 02:59

YY to Laid!

TheMemoryLingers · 14/03/2020 03:00

elp30 I want your job! Grin

elp30 · 14/03/2020 03:01

Oops, I forgot the three sparkling wines. I drank those as soon as I got them!

PenguinsOnParade · 14/03/2020 03:03

Party at elp's place. Grin

Have to admit than both Laid and Sit Down were a bigger part of my student "extracurricular activities" than I care to admit. And yes we did sit down on the floor in whichever club we were in. And then some. Blush The other parties involved have nothing to do with my favourites of the songs though, honestly. Laid reminds me of an arse ex but I knew the song before I knew him so it's still fine for me. Wink It's just the best to wail along with. Grin

PenguinsOnParade · 14/03/2020 03:07

Alexa honestly just played Sit Down then went to Scarecrow, which I had somehow completely forgotten about. If I remember in the morning I might belt out a few lines at DH.

TheMemoryLingers · 14/03/2020 03:10

Getting to the hard to type stage so time for some Killing Joke .. Invocation will see me off into the wildness of sleep!

ILikeyourHairyHands · 14/03/2020 03:11

It sounds tragic elp.

My 70's music education from my parents was Joni Mitchel, Joan Baez and Leonard Cohen, with a bit of Dylan, Beatles and the Stones. It was hippy-central at ours, my sisters and I found a Buddy Holland album that we'd play and dance around to as an antidote to all the 'protest music'.

PenguinsOnParade · 14/03/2020 03:17

That's me crashing so I'm off to bed. Just want to say thank you to everyone here tonight. I've been ill for weeks and barely left the house without a panic attack and this was just what I needed. Haven't felt this happy (or merry Blush) for a good while. Smile

TheMemoryLingers · 14/03/2020 03:18

My 60s/70s education was The Incredible String Band, Principal Edwards' Magic Theatre, Forest, and natch the Beatles. The great thing was that my mum was just as much a fan of 80s/90s music as I was, and we both loved John Peel's show and taped it in the 90s. My sister had completely different tastes (rap/soul/RNB) and my dad was never interested in pop at all, so musical tastes are always something my mum and I have shared exclusively.

TheMemoryLingers · 14/03/2020 03:19

Sleep well, Penguins.

PenguinsOnParade · 14/03/2020 03:25

Night night! My last song for the night is Mona Lisa by All American Rejects which I had played at our wedding. Nice wind down song too. Smile

ILikeyourHairyHands · 14/03/2020 03:59

There are too many great songs. Music is a balm to the soul. If I had to choose three I'd chose the first
