Hi. My primary school is going on a 3 day UK based residential in 2 weeks. As a parent, would you still be sending your child?

My child's trip for next week has been cancelled.

KrisAkabusi · 17/03/2020 10:34

Yes I would, children aren’t really affected by it.

Then you're an idiot. They might not be affected, but they can carry it! They could pick it up and infect more sensitive people, e.g grandparents. I honestly can't believe how irresponsible some people ( and the whole UK government) are being!

As a teacher we have told parents that the residential trips wont go ahead, but we are waiting for the companies involved to cancel so that insurance kicks in and we will not loose as much money

TheCanyon · 17/03/2020 11:54

Our p7's are on their residential week this week, thought it might be cancelled but nope.

redwoodmazza · 17/03/2020 13:12

This is NOT going to be over in a couple of weeks!!! This is a WINTER and NOT a blizzard.
It will be cancelled.

I'm looking at all the local events being cancelled today including children's Easter activities. The National Trust has closed it's houses while keeping gardens open. Outside activities such as cycling is kept open albeit run differently. Unsure about parkrun atm. We can walk on beaches, parks, gardens, cycle paths etc.

MigginsMrs · 17/03/2020 19:05

It will be cancelled, same as my son’s was yesterday

Kids are devastated

Namelesswonder · 17/03/2020 19:07

Our school has cancelled all U.K. and foreign trips from now till end of school year. All being refunded.

Rockbird · 17/03/2020 19:24

It will absolutely be cancelled. We've cancelled local trips at our school, residentials have no chance. Not a hope.

formerbabe · 17/03/2020 21:13

My dcs residential was cancelled. I have a devastated DC now Sad

DanielRicciardosSmile · 17/03/2020 21:17

DS's school have cancelled or postponed all trips, clubs, and outside visitors to school along with all external staff meetings and training. I'd be astounded at a residential going ahead.

HollyGoLoudly1 · 17/03/2020 21:36

It will 100% be cancelled.

Crunchymum · 17/03/2020 21:48

Yep our residential for next week was cancelled yesterday.

Everything - barring 8.55 to 3 15pm schooling - has been cancelled. Plus all assemblies, cross year work groups etc.

Just close the damn schools.

  • we will not be going back next week, if we even make it to Friday
ByAppointmentTo · 17/03/2020 21:52

Ds’s two night residential this week has been cancelled.

Crumbwell · 17/03/2020 22:12

We have managed to postpone until summer term.

Everything else in school has been stopped, other than actual school.

The only European countries with schools open are Belarus and the UK.

Both my DCs have residential school trips, luckily not until June. Having paid quite a bit, especially for DD's I am hoping they go ahead.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 18/03/2020 06:28

My child was due to go on a week long residential in the UK the week before Easter. It has now been postponed until September. As pps have said it's likely yours will be cancelled too.
