To think there will an increase in divorce rates if we have to lock down (lighthearted)

My DH and I always bicker if we spend too long together. I can't say/do the right thing. I swear sometimes I even breathe wrong. Heaven help us if we have to lockdown. There are 4 of us in a tiny 2 bed rented ground floor flat and my DH is self employed and we are only just managing. AIBU to think that we might not get through a 2 week lockdown without me wanting to LTB. My DD's always argue if they spend too much time together. I can't be alone in this. AIBU considering sleeping in the tent in the garden.

i think the murder rate might go up in some cases.

tellmetostopbutikeepongoing · 13/03/2020 17:33

Yeah fuck that, we would divorce on day 2

DingDongDenny · 13/03/2020 17:50

I was just saying the same thing to my DH yesterday. Especially when you add bored kids into the mix

putastrawunderbaby · 13/03/2020 17:53

I fear for people in violent relationships

Owlypants · 13/03/2020 17:55

Put a tent up in the garden, decorate it with fairy lights and make it cosy. Tell everyone to get comfy in the tent as you are all having a family camp out then go back in the house and lock the door for a fortnight.

wintermaiden · 13/03/2020 17:57

I also predict that there will be rise in birth rates in December 😏🤣

Lordfrontpaw · 13/03/2020 17:59

I’ve already told work that if we all need to work/study at home there will be death at Casa FrontPaw (not caused by the virus).

AufderAutobahn · 13/03/2020 18:02

As it is I'm dreading having to be trapped at home with my DH. I'm very worried for people in abusive relationships and children suffering domestic abuse of all kinds.

Lordfrontpaw · 13/03/2020 18:03

True - that’s a very sobering thought.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 13/03/2020 18:06

We've agreed rules which include not speaking to each other between 9 and 5. It's the only way.

Halfeatentoast · 13/03/2020 18:08

There'll be a baby boom in 9 months.

toothfairy73 · 13/03/2020 18:09

@PenguindreamsofDraco hilarious but the only way forward

I also predict a baby boom

I'm also worried about those on violent relationships

Yes! Was thinking the same thing earlier today. And kids being at home won’t help.

triptrapdollydumpling · 13/03/2020 18:13

My husband is happy to self isolate. I’m planning on locking him in the garage.

toothfairy73 · 13/03/2020 18:19

@triptrapdollydumpling hilarious. If only we had a garage....

Warmhandscoldheart · 13/03/2020 18:28

I love the football season, husband is out most of the day watching his Premiership team and I have freedom. What the hell am I going to do now? 😈😈🤬

AHouseFullOfTerrors · 13/03/2020 18:33

Dh has been in annual leave this week and even with me going out it drives me mad. I'm so out of routine.
We are currently renovating the garden so I guess there is space for him under the patio. Altho that would mean me finishing the patio alone.

AccountAntsy · 13/03/2020 18:35

Domestic violence will undoubtedly go up. Sorry that’s not very lighthearted but it’s true.

toothfairy73 · 13/03/2020 18:40

@AccountAntsy I know. I heard that 2 women a week are killed by their partner or ex partner, and I know this will increase with is horrific

There are already reports that China have seen a surge in domestic violence incidents along with increase in divorce. It's sad it's not being discussed more openly as a consequence of lockdown. I can certainly see why it's more likely to happen. It's very sad. I don't know what the answer is.

Fluffybutter · 13/03/2020 18:41

I’m going with more babies..

Fluffybutter · 13/03/2020 18:42

Sorry my answer was lighthearted

Scapegoatforlife · 13/03/2020 18:43

Is it not worrying to some of you that you cant stand the thought of being with your spouses for a few days ?? .

I cant get enough of my long term partner !! Bring on the isolation

PhoneTwattery · 13/03/2020 18:49

I fear a double murder in my parent’s home. Lighthearted (as they love each other dearly) but semi-serious (I don’t know who would kill who first).

StripeyDeckchair · 13/03/2020 19:03

I'm more concerned for all the children that get free school meals. Often from difficult homes , what will happen to them?
