AIBU to be angry with PTA and school

It’s a genuine AIBU but if it warrants moving to another thread i understand.

My Dd school does a major pta run fundraiser To raise funds For the school. It’s very successful raising thousands of pounds in one day. They organise a fell race with about 600 participants.

In light of the current situation with the Coronavirus I think it’s highly irresponsible to expose many of the children who will be there ( it’s a tiny village school with lots of elderly people living in it ) with their parents and grandparents to that many people who travel from all parts of the Uk for it.

I was already thinking of not sending my child to school on Monday but Now I’m certain I don’t want to after them not cancelling/postponing the event this weekend.

What's your concern, that the school will be full of people registering, leaving bags etc? Presumably it will be cleaned afterwards.

I think it should be cancelled because it's silly to encourage people to move around the country unnecessarily at the moment but I think the risk to the kids on Monday is minimal to non-existent.

Probably not an enormous risk, given that the main event is outside and people who are feeling ill with fever and a cough aren’t likely to be turning up for a fell race.
