God I hate that advert. it's right up there with "did somebody say just eat?"....no they fucking didn't they said, "shall we get a takeaway?"

Thisismytimetoshine · 12/03/2020 12:25

What do they say it is?

TinklyLittleLaugh · 12/03/2020 12:29

Filtering out the blood and puss Like.

lynzpynz · 12/03/2020 12:29

How did that get past advertising standards? Purifying it doesn't change what it is, if it does WTF does air become once its been through an air purifier?

dogsdinnerlady · 12/03/2020 12:31

What about the M&S ads saying 'It's not just food...'? Yes it is, just food.

StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 12/03/2020 12:32

I quite agree OP. I shout "YES IT BLOODY IS" at the TV every time!

BrowncoatWaffles · 12/03/2020 12:33

To be honest I heard this for the first time this morning in the car and my initial reaction was 'ok, so they've put out this reactive campaign, why do people think it ISN'T milk? What have I missed that is in this that might be of concern? Hmmm, will just stick with my ordinary milk I think!'

So that's worked ;)

AngelicaKauffman · 12/03/2020 12:42

People still watch TV with adverts?

Just stream! Or record and start shows 10 minutes later so you can fast forward through breaks!

Waspnest · 12/03/2020 12:44

Yes it pisses me off as well.

Perhaps they should go down the M and S route 'this isn't just milk, this is...' or has that been copyrighted?

lowlandLucky · 12/03/2020 12:45

I holler at the t.v everytime this sodding advert comes on

Frownette · 12/03/2020 12:47

I haven't seen it, so this thread was lost on me. It does sound irritating.

Astrabees · 12/03/2020 12:47

Ask any Vegan, of course it is milk

viques · 12/03/2020 12:47

I read a horrific article the other week about chlorinated chicken , article also listed other standard US food practices that were pretty gross. One of them was about milk. It made me throw up in my mouth a bit. I think the article was on a BBC site, but don't google unless you have a strong stomach.

I hope BoJos new baby momma also read the article and is whispering it into his ears every night........

OneHanded · 12/03/2020 12:48

Just going to sit here shielding my oat milk from view... 🤫

ManlyMenAreWe · 12/03/2020 12:48

I've seen that advert once and it's either intentionally trying to confuse ppl about what its product actually is or they don't really know what they're saying. Either way not a brand I'd buy from!

Twillow · 12/03/2020 12:50

Really annoying. Whatever were they thinking? Just begs the question what and why are they filtering and if they won't explain I shan't bother.

viques · 12/03/2020 12:51

Just googled, it was a guardian article, not BBC.

Fuss · 12/03/2020 12:55

It's 'Melk' in our house because DS cant say it.

notchickenagain · 12/03/2020 12:56

Lol, though this was going to be a new trans thing where we weren't allowed to say what came out of our breasts

Daffodil55 · 12/03/2020 12:57

The ad for Cravendale bugs me too but not a lot as I don't like drinking milk. I splash it on my cereal though and just buy normal semi skimmed.

Other claims to be superior to products alongside them on the shelves are those which include the words "mountain spring" "family farm" "nature at it's best" and many others I see from time to time.

It is mostly hype in my opinion but if folk want to pay more and believe they are getting better then that is their choice.

1forsorrow · 12/03/2020 12:58

I know what you mean but the advert that gets me is the sulky girl who has lost a football match and proceeds to kick a ball against the wall at 4.40 am and her loving mother puts on a bright garden light. I am so glad they don't live near me.

pigsDOfly · 12/03/2020 13:00

Had to google it as I've never seen it.

It makes no sense.

What do they mean it's 'fresh' milk? Are they implying that all the other milk that sits along side it on the supermarket shelves is 'stale' milk.

Filtered milk has been on sale for ages. Given that milk in this country is produced under strict controls, other than the higher price, what's the difference between that and regular milk?

strawberrylipgloss · 12/03/2020 13:01

I think they are trying to do a "This is not food, this is M&S food" and appear speshul

outnumberedmummy · 12/03/2020 13:04

It pisses me right off

Xenia · 12/03/2020 13:07

The ASA regularly wrestles with this kind of issue eg see this ruling on Arla - www.asa.org.uk/rulings/arla-foods-ltd-g19-1040012-arla-foods-ltd.html mind you that one looks complicated - it was milk and the advert said - it's not milk when it was...... complaint not upheld.
