...about my outfit for a family communion.
Hi all,
It's a double communion (my younger brother and cousin) so I need to look good plus there will be photos. I was wearing navy trousers, a blush pink top, a blush pink scarf, a navy cardigan, a blush pink clutch and navy Chelsea boots (I've only bought the trousers, top and scarf), but now I hate the idea because I saw a black jumpsuit. So now I am wearing: A (different) black jumpsuit, a leopard print belt, black boots, a black shoulder bag with gold hardware and some sort of black wrap or cardigan (not bought any yet). I was crying down the phone to my cousin then my gran about not knowing what to wear and feeling like shite. I was talking to my uncle about my plans for the day before the communion (this was before I had doubts about what to wear), and he said I'm taking it too seriously and it's not the royal wedding. Am I being a diva?

Also, sorry for the misleading title!

I would go with the navy set up, it sounds perfect.

Rhubarbpeony · 11/03/2020 19:43

Both sound absolutely fine. Since you already have half of the blue outfit I would go with that.

Vulpine · 11/03/2020 19:43

Jeez it's just an outfit and it's just a communion

hellcarryingahandbag · 11/03/2020 19:44

@HappyHammy, thanks, I'm really not sure as I absolutely hate the idea now, even though I was so sure until I thought of a jumpsuit.Sad

Err it's a first communion, no one will notice what you are wearing. It's not about the clothes!

DesLynamsMoustache · 11/03/2020 19:45

No need to cry about it, it's really not a big deal! It's not about you so just turn up clean and in reasonably smart clothes and that's enough.

ChateauMargaux · 11/03/2020 19:46

You are overthinking this!! Its about the children!!!

StrawberryPi · 11/03/2020 19:47

I'm sure either option is perfect! You could show us photos if you would like some reassurance?

hellcarryingahandbag · 11/03/2020 19:54

Thanks @StrawberryPi, I don't have all the stuff for the navy clothes to take a photo, and none of the black. Flowers

I know I'm being dramatic, but I want to look Fab-u-lous!

If you report your post and ask for it to be moved to Style & Beauty, you will get actual outfit advice rather than people bashing you for caring.

Neverender · 11/03/2020 20:10

Honestly? It's like dress down day at school. My Mum always told me, "No-one cares what you look like, they're too busy worrying about how THEY look."

She was right. Make sure you're comfortable and feel confident and then have fun x

hellcarryingahandbag · 11/03/2020 20:15

@BitOfFun, I don't want outfit advice as such, I was just wondering if I was being a diva. Thanks anyway

@Neverender, that's very true. Thanks!Flowers

Wear the navy, it sounds really nice. Jumpsuit - maybe you would be a diva Grin

BitOfFun · 11/03/2020 20:27

On you go then! No worries.

Kraejka · 11/03/2020 20:27

Goodness.. crying down the phone about what outfit to wear - I think you need to talk to someone about that.

hellcarryingahandbag · 11/03/2020 20:28

@Kraejka, why? We've all done it!

OP posts:
hellcarryingahandbag · 11/03/2020 20:29

@DontCallMeShitley, being a diva doesn't bother meGrin

MarjoryMinor · 11/03/2020 20:30

No we haven't!

CarolinaPink · 11/03/2020 20:33

I'm hopeless at clothes and always worry about this sort of thing. Both of your outfits sound fab. IIWY I'd make a decision about which to go with, get them on the hangars and then simply stop thinking about it.

CarolinaPink · 11/03/2020 20:33

Hangers... :)

Kraejka · 11/03/2020 20:35

why? We've all done it!

Eh?? I haven't done it.
I've cried down the phone about serious matters - bereavements, illness, that kind of thing... but not which outfit to wear at a Communion which might get cancelled anyway. (I'm in another country and Communions and Confirmations are being cancelled because there would be too many people gathering in one place).

In the spirit of not being too harsh.... I think both of your outfits sound fine and are suitable for the occasion. I personally prefer the sound of the navy and pink but the other one is ok too. Just pick one and be done with it and please stop crying about it because that is unnecessarily dramatic.

DontCallMeShitley · 11/03/2020 20:39

I was just wondering if I was being a diva.

Hence my comment Wink.
Still say the navy sounds best, but I hate jumpsuits and animal print so am biased.

RedRedWines · 11/03/2020 20:40

We most certainly have not ‘all done it’. Why do you care? It literally doesn’t matter what you wear it isn't even an event about or for you, and I wouldn’t be sympathetic to this level of stress over an outfit even if it was your celebration.
