To think we won't see H&M again - Greta hoax

Harry and Megan of course.
Just that. It's another nail in the coffin. I don't blame them. Journalists are scum.

If there are a million other threads on the Greta hoax, feel free to ignore this one!

@OtherVoicesOtherRooms

I'm sorry, I don't know what you're talking about. Confused

Like @adaline I thought you were on about the clothes shop.

ArriettyJones · 11/03/2020 10:08

Isn't that a fake call and a fake Harry?

I hope so. Otherwise he is a ninny supporting eco terrorism and further needling his grandmother. Some news outlets seem to believe it, though so meh.

DiNATwist · 11/03/2020 10:11

If true, just proves that he's a bit dim, a lot lefty (typical champagne socialist) because , a lot woke and a lot privileged. And FFS what's a 35 year old man doing baring his soul & talking about private family matters to someone he thinks is a 17year old with limited education, limited critical reasoning skills and above all, someone he doesn't even know except in the most cursory way?

caperberries · 11/03/2020 10:16

He's a deluded hypocrite.

Talks about how (other) people need to be shocked into change... but of course, his situation is different - because he needs to fly on private jets regularly.

1forsorrow · 11/03/2020 10:16

DiNATwist I think you have summed it up well.

Walnutwhipster · 11/03/2020 10:20

Thick as mince hypocrite.

slartibarti · 11/03/2020 10:21

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't Harry.
I also wouldn't be surprised if the so called 'Russian pranksters' don't exist.

Not beyond the bounds of possibility for a tabloid "journalist" to organise a hoax, or the real thing if it actually happened, from a safe distance.

derxa · 11/03/2020 10:24

,

WickedlyPetite · 11/03/2020 10:29

I'm not sure it's really him, I think he's pretty dim but not that stupid.

If it was a fake Great Thunberg then it's perfect possible it's also a fake Harry.

contrary13 · 11/03/2020 10:30

Am I the only person to think that he's essentially called all of the generations older than Greta (who's the same age as my environment unfriendly son) complete thickos when it comes to climate change, and what we ought to be doing?

I'm 44 and I'm more environmentally aware than my 16 year old... and my 23 year old. So, actually, that bit is hugely offensive, especially coming from someone who has been handed everything on a silver platter (including 'A'-levels, as it happens) and who has spent the last year being blatantly rude to all and sundry. He wasn't even in school when my generation were campaigning to save the African Elephant and the Sumatran Tigers from extinction, to ban aerosols because of the damage they do to the ozone layer, and wearing sunscreen because we understood that without an ozone layer, the suns rays burn us just a little bit more than they ought to. I have campaigned, in school, for turtles, for the ring-tailed lemurs, for sloths, for all sorts of things that make me incredibly uncomfortable at this new "woke" society, for Harry being led by a Californian raised Meghan, for the blatant racism they are displaying towards us all (I'm Jewish and mixed race, incidentally, before anyone here starts - and I have a NPD diagnosed child, so I can recognise the subtle signs without reading trashy news-comics!). If they'd stayed under the umbrella of maintaining royal family status... Archie would have been protected more than he will be now, as he grows up. And actually? It's him I feel sorry for.

And the environment with a generation of social media/selfie obsessed teens deciding that they're the only ones who care about it.

Rainbows8117 · 11/03/2020 10:30

The 'pranksters' have a YouTube channel where they have also pranked Elton John, Boris and lots of US people for years. I think the Harry one had been put up but then taken down (suspect legal reasons?) but there is a short clip from someone else still on YT.

So I don't think it's the tabloids making up the story this time, it's whether the pranksters are pranking the celebs or us that's the question.

NeckPainChairSearch · 11/03/2020 10:34

for Harry being led by a Californian raised Meghan, for the blatant racism they are displaying towards us all

I'm not sure I follow this. Can you expand?

Rainbows8117 · 11/03/2020 10:34

Yep. There is actual video footage of him saying this about the older generation (1m50s) - definitely no hoax. So I think if the call isn't real they still seem to have his general attitude right! Although it's not clear if he is talking specifically about environmental issues or just generally.

"There is no way that the older generation are going to be able to change their mindset unless it's their children who are influencing the change"

Candleford · 11/03/2020 10:37

I’m a bit suspicious as to whether the hoax is a hoax too. It’s reported in very few papers and apart from the Telegraph they’re all tabloids. There’s not much on YouTube either. It just has a bit of an ‘off’ feel to it somehow. I hope it’s a hoax because as much as I’m not a fan of royalty and think Meghan and Harry’s exit plan has been a disaster, this is low and mean and going to upset the parties involved even more.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 11/03/2020 10:41

Just shows he is the thick plonker I always thought he was

ArriettyJones · 11/03/2020 10:41

I’m swaying towards the “off feel” being because the story hot middle of the night U.K. time, and legal action against the tape was launched left right and centre but at an unusual time of night. Some papers have run the story but some hedged their bets and the actual YouTube video has been pulled at least temporarily.

ArriettyJones · 11/03/2020 10:42

Story hit not hot.

slartibarti · 11/03/2020 10:43

He's making himself look really thick pretending to be an authority on climate change.
Should follow the advice of Mr Thatcher
"better to say nothing and have people wonder if you're stupid, than speak and prove that you definitely are."
Or something like that.

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 11/03/2020 11:01

The BBC have got an article about it up now, but obviously with the caveat that BP didn't comment, and they couldn't confirm any of the claims. Weird.

AspergersMum · 11/03/2020 11:08

Yikes. This is awkward. They knew the landline for the Vancouver house - wasn't there speculation that it is owned by a Russian? I believe it is true and after the hoax with Prince George leading to that poor nurse's suicide, I would have thought that the RF would be super careful about random phonecalls. Prince Harry clearly needs more handlers to handle everyday life for him.

PianoTuner567 · 11/03/2020 11:10

If it is him, I don’t think he said anything controversial or particularly interesting at all. A lot of waffle really. Papers trying to make it something scandalous, as usual.

GloGirl · 11/03/2020 11:12

I can't see what he said that was really worth reporting on - apart from the fact that he got "caught out" talking to a hoax.

He supports Climate Change, doesn't like Trump and hates the British media - no surprise at all! He was most outspoken on ecological issues but given who that's who he thought he was having a conversation with, that's no surprise.

The only thing really juicy would have been some real opinion on his Uncle and understandably he kept quiet on that issue.

1forsorrow · 11/03/2020 11:16

If it is all a hoax wouldn't they have had him saying something a bit more interesting? I mean it is all a bit too typically him to be interesting.

millerjane · 11/03/2020 11:24

Why is he offloading all of this info onto a teenager he doesn't know? People need to be aware of his MH

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 11/03/2020 11:29

If it is Prince Harry in the conversation, just goes to show he's not the brightest bulb in the box. I still think he's rather sweet, though, and I don't get the Meghan knocking. Not that they'd give a monkey's what I think.
