They're fresh (fridge) roast potatoes. Reduced, but their use by date is the 10th.

I get sick easily and I'm paranoid about food!

OP posts:
Shoxfordian · 10/03/2020 16:36

They're fine, it's the 10th
Eat them!

QuestionableMouse · 10/03/2020 16:36

You'll be fine. They're potatoes.

molemonkey · 10/03/2020 16:36

They are still in date as it's only the 10th today.
You'll be fine to eat them

BossAssBitch · 10/03/2020 16:36

It's the 10th today Confused

Unless it says 10th January then it the bloody things, no wonder we have so much food wastage Hmm

SpoonBlender · 10/03/2020 16:37

Use by dates are not "go off" dates! Reframing that may help your food anxiety a little.

AlexaCanBuggerOff · 10/03/2020 16:37

No they might explode.

pasturesgreen · 10/03/2020 16:37

Totally fine.

ParisInTheSpringtime · 10/03/2020 16:37

FFS they’ll be fine for days.

rocketmen · 10/03/2020 16:38

Don't think being rude is needed or appropriate, really. I have other people in the house who would eat them if I don't so they wouldn't get wasted.

OP posts:
Fairyliz · 10/03/2020 16:39

Last night I used some double cream that was three days past it use by date. It smelt ok and it was expensive didn’t want to waste it! Been fine all today

IHaveBrilloHair · 10/03/2020 16:39

You'd have a fit if you lived in my house, I totally ignore dates and use my common sense.

rocketmen · 10/03/2020 16:39

I also have an eating disorder related to gastro issues I have so food really frightens me! I'll try and have some of them.

OP posts:
Yesterdayforgotten · 10/03/2020 16:40

I don't understand as they havent expired until tomorrow. You can't always go by the dates either, look and smell says way more.

user1493494961 · 10/03/2020 16:43

The food doesn't know it's supposed to 'go off' today, I'm sure it will be fine to eat.

GinnyStrupac · 10/03/2020 16:43

Use your nose and your eyes, OP. If they look fine and smell fine, have been properly stored and in this case will be cooked correctly, then you should enjoy them - even a couple of days from now.

rocketmen · 10/03/2020 16:47

Thank you :)

Bloody hell, what has become of our society ? When grown adults dont have a clue about the food they put in their mouths we have failed in raising them. I am still using Veg i dug up months ago.

Alsohuman · 10/03/2020 16:57

Same here, if it passes the sniff test, it gets eaten regardless of the bb date.

Busybusybust · 10/03/2020 16:59

Oh, good grief. It’s ‘use by’ not ‘goes off on’. Of course you can eat them! The maxim is ‘SMELL AND TASTE’!

Basilandparsleyandmint · 10/03/2020 17:01

Come on people the OP has food issues so just wants a bit of reassurance- no need to be snippy to her.
OP - with it being potato you will be fine and within date but if it is going to worry you don’t feel pressured and if others will eat them in your house let them Smile

Rhubarbpeony · 10/03/2020 17:02

They will be fine. Sell by and use by dates are conservative anyway, even if you weren’t within the recommended period.

inwood · 10/03/2020 17:05

Potatoes? Nothing is going to happen. Honestly. Eat them i six weeks. Nothing will happen.

Iooselipssinkships · 10/03/2020 17:10

They don't promptly mutate at midnight of the due date, be fine love, enjoy yur spud.

SouthernComforts · 10/03/2020 17:12

YABU for posting something obviously ok in AIBU then dripfeeding something very relevant when you don't like the answers you get.

iklboo · 10/03/2020 17:19

You'll be ok OP. Cook them up tonight. I love cold roast potatoes for breakfast Smile
