I would find this slightly wanky from pretty much anyone, to be fair. But the woman who posted it literally cannot fart without posting about it on Facebook. She no more wants to throw her phone away and go ‘off-grid’ than I genuinely wanted the apple I had this morning instead of the big slabs of cake on sale in the office kitchen this morning.

I know it’s only Facebook and it makes bugger all difference to my life, but it just makes me want to pelt her and everyone like her with rotting courgettes! Why do people invent fake personalities like this?!

The whole point of facebook is about sharing opinions and events in your life. If you dont want to read what other people think then close your account.

Ladycoo1 · 09/03/2020 21:42

I unfollowed everyone (told friends I was doing it because I can't keep up with life and just want FB for groups I'm in). Made my life so much better - and freed up so much more time for me! It's the way to go!

Hassled · 09/03/2020 21:42

I like WickedlyPetite's approach - it hadn't occurred to me that I could snooze people for 30 days. I'm going to start doing that.
I have someone who filters the fuck out of every single selfie she posts (and there are a lot, usually of her doing something worthy and self-sacrificing which you can't possibly bitch about because she's so nice and charitable and I'm frankly too lazy to be that good) - but to an extent that it's all a bit uncanny valley - she looks almost animated.

Septembe66 · 09/03/2020 21:42

Rarely post on fb but there’s always someone posting things like I’m done with this. I just can’t do this anymore and when anyone asks what’s it’s always pm me. If you don’t want anyone to know what’s going on in your life don’t put it on fb

nicky7654 · 09/03/2020 21:48

I find them really annoying too !! I can't stand icky posts and always wonder why people feel the need to post them lol

Thinkingabout1t · 09/03/2020 21:56

Yeah, “just live off the land”. Backbreaking toil, very little money, no holidays. OP, you’re more likely to give up cakes for life than she is to go off-grid.

planetcloud · 09/03/2020 21:57

TheTruthAboutLove had this not so long ago myself. I don't understand why someone can't have a moan on here without getting ripped to pieces. And OP YADNBU

PanicAndRun · 09/03/2020 21:58

Meh. They either amuse me or they make roll my eyes ,anything else is too much hassle.

PanicAndRun · 09/03/2020 21:58

This amused me Grin
I'm easily entertained.

Come on OP you are not being kind now are you. #Bekind #Beafakebookprick #didItellyouallhowkindiam #kinderthanallofyou

CorianderLord · 09/03/2020 22:00

Lol same as when people post all the 'Be Kind' bullshit when they're horrible people

Lynda07 · 09/03/2020 22:07

Facebook is crap. I was persuaded to join recently in order to keep in touch with Messenger. It's rubbish. Nobody posts anything worth reading - or rarely - and I get endless requests from people I have never heard of wanting to be my 'friend'.

I joined a group which I thought would be interesting but it is banal so I left the group today.

Heartofglass12345 · 09/03/2020 22:08

Haha I'm with you. One of my friends posted a long, heartfelt post about leaving enough toilet rolls and hand sanitiser in the shops for the vulnerable, with lots of commas.
Like 'please, please, think of those in need' She's just about 3 days too late with what everyone else (that isn't panic buying loo roll) is saying, acting like she's the only one to think of it lol

AvonBarksdale99 · 09/03/2020 22:17

To be fair to her, it does say ‘sometimes’. Maybe she does sometimes feel like that? I personally sometimes get that feeling, that it would be nice to be disconnected from it all, doesn’t mean that I don’t ever go online/social media etc...

ragged · 09/03/2020 22:19

speaking of toileting... my first thought about "cabin in the woods" far from anyone is how nasty the toilet situation would be.

Followed by assuming it would be full of bugs, rodents and draughts. Brrrr!

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 09/03/2020 22:24

Facebook is called “fakebook” for a reason. Take it all with a huge bucket of salt.

I do also agree with hiding/unfollowing anyone that irritates you. Does wonders for your stress levels.

Lynda07 · 10/03/2020 19:27

Heartofglass, that poster sounds really daft. I dont know what shortages there are of toilet rolls and hand sanitiser (& nappies have been mentioned), near where I live but it is quite easy to buy them online and they arrive the next day.

Yes I am disappointed with Facebook really but, though I was persuaded, it was my choice to join up. I'm just not going to be active on it and will only use Messenger if I receive a message.

......
Yes!
When I was at school two girls went on an outward bound course - both loved it and came back full of it, it was beneficial to them (not my scene, the very thought terrifies me but each to their own).

They were taught to go a bit further afield from the camp with a shovel, dig a little hole and cover it up afterwards. Presumably that is how it is done!

Imagine it in the depths of winter though -- brrrrr.

dkl55 · 10/03/2020 19:41

GrinIm with you. YANBU. I hate Facebook and seldom go on it. Instagram has become worse. It's gone from nice family/what I'm up to pics or interesting posts to really banal or self congratulatory or virtue signally content. Makes me lose the will and lose faith in the intelligence of my fellow man 🙄
