To be annoyed friend never sorted the wart out?

Friends DD has wart on her finger. Has had it for ages and has never treated it. Am i being unfair to find this irritating as her DD regularly plays with/holds hands with my DD and as such puts her at risk of passing on the wart to her?

You are being totally ridiculous. Hth.

Oakmaiden · 09/03/2020 13:48

Yes. Warts can be very hard to sort out. Eventually she will develop immunity to it and it will just go.

mauvaisereputation · 09/03/2020 13:48

I don’t think YABU at all. It’s quite irresponsible not to treat a wart in a child’s hand. They’re contagious. Poor little girl.

Honeybee85 · 09/03/2020 13:50

I think many children carry the virus that causes warts. Adults sometimes do too. I noticed some years ago a few on my hand that were hard to get rid of. One of my colleagues had them on his fingers too (before I got them). I suspect I got it from him by using the same towel in the kitchen/ toilet. I think YANBU.

SerenDippitty · 09/03/2020 13:51

Warts are best left alone unless they are causing pain or distress depending on where they are. I think your daughter would have got a wRt by now if she was going to.

SoupDragon · 09/03/2020 13:51

Warts can be very hard to sort out

The only thing that has worked on warts the DC have had is time.

urinetroubleagain · 09/03/2020 13:52

If it doesn’t hurt my doctors advice was to leave the wart alone and will clear up on its own.
Yabu, ridiculous and precious.

sleepyhead · 09/03/2020 13:52

It's a wart Hmm

ihaveaquestionplease · 09/03/2020 13:53

Apparently they're meant to be left alone now.

PlanDeRaccordement · 09/03/2020 13:53

If they have tried nothing to counter the wart, YANBU
But if it’s a stubborn wart that won’t shift which is not uncommon, YABU

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 09/03/2020 13:54

Tell your DD not to hold hands with her then. My DD had two warts on her finger/hand when younger and we were told to leave them alone by health professionals

TerrorWig · 09/03/2020 13:55

My son has three warts on his finger. Really annoying. Have tried loads of stuff and it just won’t die.

ilovedjerrymore · 09/03/2020 13:55

My son is prone to warts and the only thing that works for him is to leave them and let them go on their own. Which they all have, does take months but works. I don’t have warts and regularly touch them etc!Hmm

Sweak · 09/03/2020 13:56

If you ask a gp they say there is no treatment.

Lllot5 · 09/03/2020 13:59

Well if my old mum was on here she would tell you to rub raw meat on them then bury the meat in the garden!

However I think pp are correct just have to let it go on it’s own.

tiredanddangerous · 09/03/2020 14:00

Yab completely daft.

sindylouwho · 09/03/2020 14:06

Ffs yabu. I hope you don't get a wart!! Shock horror!

Lynda07 · 09/03/2020 14:14

I remember having warts on my hand or hands when I was very small indeed. My mum put some dark red stuff on them and they disappeared but nobody really thought much of it as far as I know. Never had one since. They are contagious but not very from what I've read.

Oh I tell a lie, I did get a verruca from swimming baths, that was easily dealt with.

GinDrinker00 · 09/03/2020 14:17

You’re being fucking ridiculous.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 09/03/2020 14:18

I had one on my hand as a child and it was frozen off by the practice nurse with liquid nitrogen and disappeared within a week I think. I'm not sure they do this any more.

vodkaredbullgirl · 09/03/2020 14:21

My 20 yr old dd had 1 on her finger when she was younger, it disappeared after a few years.

antisupermum · 09/03/2020 14:24

My sister had a harmless wart on the inside of her knee when she was a self conscious tween. The doctor froze it with liquid nitrogen. However, she used the treatment incorrectly and my sister had to attend the burns unit for weeks to get the wound dressed. She now has a scar the size of a small plate on her leg. All for a bloody wart. YABU. Shes a child and it will go on its own eventually.

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 09/03/2020 14:25

If they are similar to Veruccas (I think they’re the same virus) ds had one on his foot for about 2 years - I tried everything over the counter, the duct tape method, everything. The doctor said they don’t generally freeze them off any more as it’s painful and even that doesn’t always work!

So I left it and it finally fell off about a month ago....YAY!!!

If your friend hasn’t tried anything I think that’s a bit lazy however she may have tried and isn’t having any success.

MagnoliaJustice · 09/03/2020 14:25

She's not going to die if she gets a wart. As others have said, the best treatment is no treatment these days. Or rub it with a toad...

Soubriquet · 09/03/2020 14:27

I used to have warts all over my bottom, a couple on my legs, and one on my wrist when I was younger.

Tried freezing the one on my wrist and it really hurt.

Ended up leaving them alone and they all burst themselves when I went on holiday to Spain one year
