To be annoyed friend never sorted the wart out?

Friends DD has wart on her finger. Has had it for ages and has never treated it. Am i being unfair to find this irritating as her DD regularly plays with/holds hands with my DD and as such puts her at risk of passing on the wart to her?

On another note has she caught the dreaded headlice yet! Now that is annoying:)

StarUtopia · 09/03/2020 14:30

I've had a wart on the side of my middle finger for over 20 years now...tried everything including very painful liquid nitrogen applied by the doc.

Havne't passed it to anyone!

yikesanotherbooboo · 09/03/2020 14:30

What bothers you about it? There is no good treatment for warts and as they are harmless anyway what is the point of trying to treat.?
Correct management is to ignore it and one day it will disappear. YABU

Most CCGs will no longer treat warts on the NHS as it’s considered to be a cosmetic procedure.

The homes remedies are pretty shite in my opinion. They’ve never got rid of any of my or my kids’ warts. There’s not much else your ‘friend’ can do really.

crustycrab · 09/03/2020 14:34

What do you want her to do to "sort it out" Hmm

Ploppymoodypants · 09/03/2020 14:41

Yep my DD had several warts. Nothing worked and she had them for about 4 years. Saw GP and nurse and they all said they can’t be treated. Saw a private specialist and they wouldn’t treat anyone under the age of 16. Over the counter stuff didn’t work. GP advised to just leave alone and they will drop off. And one day they did just that! All of them just disappeared literally over night!

I used to feel sorry for my daughter in case anyone judged her and told their children to avoid her, but then I told myself that no one would be that unkind and judge a small child for warts. But it looks like they do. ☹️

Dreamstosell · 09/03/2020 14:41

My son had lots of warts / verruccas (I don’t know the difference) on his foot. No one else in the house got them despite him running around bare foot at times - wouldn’t keep socks on! His paediatrician said they don’t treat them now and just to ignore and they’ll go away on their own. Even said ok to go swimming without swim socks. One day I realised they weren’t there anymore

Fuss · 09/03/2020 14:42

Well if my old mum was on here she would tell you to rub raw meat on them then bury the meat in the garden!

My Nan told me to do that, but using bacon rind.
It actually worked, though I suspect it was more a case of the wart finally clearing itself up rather than some magical properties of bacon rind.

drinkygin · 09/03/2020 15:08

Doctors won’t do anything with warts now. OTC stuff is crap and does nothing. YABVU as your friend may have tried treatments which have been unsuccessful

Lweji · 09/03/2020 15:12

At least she knows that whoever likes her, likes her warts and all.

Lweji · 09/03/2020 15:15

More seriously, I'm not sure about not treating warts.

In people with several that don't go away, then fine to leave.

But I had a large on under my big toe, that was cut off and I've never had any other.
ExH also had some that cleared away with OTC treatment.

I'd think people should try to treat them, at least. Do you have any idea if the parents have tried to treat it?

1forsorrow · 09/03/2020 15:28

I had a wart for 40 odd years. It did eventually go.

amusedbush · 09/03/2020 15:31

I’ve had a small one on the pad of my right thumb for about 20 years - since I was a child. Nothing has shifted it.

Same when I had a verruca about ten years ago, nothing I tried got rid of it until one day I woke up and it was gone.

Sometimes it’s not as easy as ‘just treat it’.

stayathomer · 09/03/2020 15:41

Sorry but most people on here are right, apparently warts aren't actually treatable and all those treatments are placebos

Changedusername76 · 09/03/2020 16:08

When my son had a wart Dr said that they leave them untreated these days and recommended doing nothing. I was a bit sceptical but all fine.

PlopTeeth · 09/03/2020 16:12

Buy it from her! Old wives tale and either it works or I’ve always managed to get the timing right! I’ve had a couple ‘bought’ from me and they disappeared. Worth a try......😂

partofthepeanutgallery · 09/03/2020 16:43

GPs won't even treat them any more. Ditto for Verrucas.

Get a grip.

Springsnake · 09/03/2020 17:07

Completely agree with u op

Fluffybutter · 09/03/2020 17:17

You are a pillock.
Leave the poor girl alone

Growingboys · 09/03/2020 17:19

How do you know she's done nothing to sort it? My son had a couple of warts for YEARS and we tried everything but to no avail.

We eventually sorted them by freezing them off but it cost a fortune.

Geoffreythecat · 09/03/2020 17:22

Maybe you should look up the NICE guidance for treating warts....which is that there is a strong case for not treating warts.

Fr0g · 09/03/2020 17:23

I have a wart - I mentioned it to GP when I was there about something else, she said it was best to leave it alone. That one is still there a few years on - I had another a couple of years ago, but that disappeared.
My hand hasn;t fallen off yet.

VenusTiger · 09/03/2020 17:45

I had some taken off two of my fingers when I was about 11 OP as I hated them and time didn't work for me - I don't recall my close friends having any - I still remember it now, a massive (obviously huge Wink ) needle to numb it, a sharp tool and this hot-rod thing that sealed it. I can laugh now - I still have tiny scars from them.
I wouldn't worry about it though, you can't dicate to another parent.

milveycrohn · 09/03/2020 19:15

I had a wart on my finger for over 10 years. I was very embarrassed about it.
I saw the GP, who recommened some over the counter stuff, which frankly did not work, even though I was applying it regulalrly. Kept buying wart stuff and different wart stuff recommended by the pharmacist. Went back to GP to see if they would freeze it off, but they dont do that now (or mine doesn't).
The money I have spent on wart removal stuff over the years.
Then of course, I then started giving up, then resuming, then giving up, etc etc.
Woke up one day, and it had gone. Just disappeared.
If it were not for a very faint mark on the finger where it once was, no one would know.

Iamtooknackeredtorun · 09/03/2020 19:18

I took my DD to the doctor a couple of years ago about three warts on her hand. I was told they will go by themselves and that the only effective intervention was v painful and not recommended for children. They went as advised.
