Purely here for traffic but need an urgent steer please before I engage a solicitor & end up with a monster bill!

In a nutshell partner & I separating and as such he is buying me out of my share of the house (£250K tops)

Please can anyone tell me how the costs of the transfer is calculated??

Many thanks.

Any high-street solicitor should be able to advise you for for around £120

HCHQ · 09/03/2020 14:44

It is my solicitor (considerably more that £120) who is asking me!! Hmm

call the mortgage provider and ask, or read the mortgage contract that you signed.
I doubt that every mortgage will be the same, so asking a general question like this is unlikely to give you the answer..

I’m a Comm prop solicitor and the mortgage company would probably charge you a fee for a “Transfer of equity” that varies from company to company.

We would charge around £500 plus vat to effect this and they’d be around £50 of land reg fees.

Hope that helps

Ring your mortgage company and they'll tell you.

Land registry fees are on scale 2 for this and can be found online. Normally for transfer of share between 20 and 40 pounds.

Yep and you would need official copies at £3 per one plus vat and it depends how many documents are associated with your property (old conveyances with convents on etc) but your sol wouldn’t know if they needed all those unless until they got the register
