Can anyone help me get a better deal on my Vodafone contract?

I basically use my phone as a phone but now and again the kids use it to stream Netflix. Obviously need photo storage.

Any tips on getting a better price? I'm currently charged appropriately £50.0 a month.

Try mobiles.com.

LellyMcKelly · 09/03/2020 06:46

Sorry - Mobile’s.co.uk

LellyMcKelly · 09/03/2020 06:47

Without the apostrophe

RibenaMonsoon · 09/03/2020 06:50

Bear in mind that wherever you get the phone from, your warranty on the phone will be from that retailer and not Vodafone. So if you buy from mobiles.Com for example, your warranty will be through them, they don't have retail outlets so it's a bit of a faff when it comes to repairs. Worth checking out what their repair policy is in case of a phone fault.

Your other option is to call Vodafone, select the option to leave Vodafone and your will be immediately transfered to their saves team. Their job is to keep you as a customer and they will be able to offer certain discounts that the retail outlets and website don't have available. Worth getting a quote from them also.

Try Google rather than AIBU?

OhioOhioOhio · 09/03/2020 07:34

Thanks Lockheart. I did try Google, it linked me to some dodgy third handler type site.

Mners have helped me divorce my abusive exh. I figured vodafone help wouldn't be too big an ask.

Vodaphone are awful.
I'm due an upgrade and I'm refusing to pay their prices so currently looking to move to Sky or Talk Talk. Vodaphone don't negotiate ime

Boom45 · 09/03/2020 07:40

I went to Sky Mobile, not a dodgy website and waaaaay cheaper than O2 who I was with before.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 09/03/2020 07:40

Don't go with Vodafone. They will happily allow employees to commit fraud in your name and then chase you for the money when they don't pay the bill

Uppingham · 09/03/2020 07:43

I’ve just renewed with Vodafone and after saying I would go to O2 because they appeared to have a better deal I got 20% off from Vodafone. Depends if you want a phone or SIM only, as phone manufacturers have tight control on costs of phones so little discount can be given if you want a recently released phone. The phone companies have greater ability to discount their own calls/texts/data.

MarieG10 · 09/03/2020 07:46

We all left Vodaphone 6 years ago. The customer service was just dreadful. After spending two days in France trying to get them to sort it out I decided to leave along with the other three members of our family so four phones. Gosh did they swing into action but action is all about offering more data etc and NOT about sorting problems

We all went to GiffGaff. Best thing we ever did and I believe a which Best Buy. You can have a loan etc to buy the phone if you need

ShadowMoonlight · 09/03/2020 07:47

I also used mobiles.co.uk for my phone and contract and got an amazing deal. Maybe look at uswitch too.

Or check HotUKDeals for best prices - just search for Vodafone in the search box.

RJnomore1 · 09/03/2020 07:49

What are you getting for £50?

wobytide · 09/03/2020 07:52

Do you need a phone or just a contract? Are they always watching Netflix whilst out or whilst connected to wifi so data isn't an issue?

Just switch to Voxi which is Vodafone but only £10 a month. Can add on a Netflix package for a few quid more if really bothered.

ExclamationPerfume · 09/03/2020 07:54

Vodafone are the worst. Giffgaff are great and have good SIM only deals.

SouthWestmom · 09/03/2020 07:58

Vodafone are so expensive. I'm stuck with them after leaving Tesco because of the Apple Watch - Tesco didn't support it.

BonnesVacances · 09/03/2020 08:00

Have a look at Smarty. They're SIM only so you can keep your current phone. They use the O2 network. It's unlimited texts and minutes, plus you choose how much data you want. If you look at your Vodafone bills you'll see what your average data use is. But they refund what you don't use (most companies carry the u used data over) so you can go with the most expensive package knowing you're always covered, but only pay for what you use.

onionface · 09/03/2020 08:01

How long have you been with Vodafone?
Try chatting to them online, say you want to leave, can't afford it. They sometimes offer a loyalty discount.

Alyic · 09/03/2020 08:03

Go to carphone warehouse, I got a much better deal and a £25 voucher for Currys, but I'm not sure if they still do this. DH renewed his Vodafone through CPW and the deal was two thirds of the cost compared to going with Vodafone directly, for the same deal.

Relocating20 · 09/03/2020 08:07

Whenever I upgrade with Vodafone I ask to speak to the retentions team who always give you the lowest price.

Ginfordinner · 09/03/2020 08:15

That wasn't very helpful Lockheart Hmm

We are with Plusnet who provide a good service. Prior to that we were with Virgin who also provided us with an equally good service. We switched to PlusNet because they were cheaper. They are both virtual providers for EE, which have excellent coverage.

We used to be with GiffGaff, but coverage where we live isn't very good.

According to Which the best mobile service providers are (in rating order, best first):

GiffGaff (O2)
Utility Warehouse (EE)
Plusnet (EE)
Tesco mobile (O2)
Asda mobile (EE)
Sky mobile (O2)

Vodafone has the lowest score by a mile in the Which survey. I also find it ironic that EE and O2 virtual providers offer a better service than the actual service providers themselves.

SnowWhitesRestingBitchFace · 09/03/2020 08:34

I've been with 3 for nearly a year. I got an iPhone 8 and unlimited calls, texts and data for £51 a month but only paid £25.50 the first 6 months. Really happy with the plan I'm on. No problems at all with the network so will happily upgrade when the time comes.

Iamclearlyamug · 09/03/2020 08:46

U can buy a video pass on Vodafone for about 7 quid a month and it gets you unlimited YouTube, Netflix, videos etc. I've got that, plus 100gb standard data for 32 quid a month. I am sim only though

Hingeandbracket · 09/03/2020 08:52

100gb standard data
How does anyone chew through 100GB a month (especially if it doesn't include youtube and netflix)????

Hingeandbracket · 09/03/2020 08:53

OP - assume you are getting a fancy new phone for £50 - do you really need it?
