Would you rather have a better phone or an actual camera?

My mobile is quite damaged after a few years of usage. It's a Samsung Note 9. I mainly use it for messages and the camera.

I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade to a phone with a better camera or a cheaper phone and spend the difference buying an actual camera?

Is there much in the quality of the pictures in phone vs camera?

Unless you're getting a DSLR phone cameras work just as well (some even better perhaps due to software processing) than regular cameras.

*as regular cameras

Phone with good camera. Having to carry 2 devices, a camera usually bulkier, and then having to transfer photos to my phone/computer to post would to too annoying for me personally.

Have you looked at the Samsung A series? My husband has the A50 and I prefer his camera to my S9.

Depends how you would use it. I would prefer a better phone camera because the camera you always have with you is more useful than the one left at home. And phone cameras are amazing these days.

But if you are really into (or planning to get into) photography you may prefer a camera with manual settings.

Better phone. 100%

I have a one with one of the better cameras and the photographs are better than I can take with my DSLR.
